FOR FUTURE APPLICANTS READ ME IF YOU’RE TAKING CALC 2 IN SPRING
Accepted W/ Interview
HAAS (Business Administration)
College transferring from: California community college
GPA: 4.00
Units completed: not sure over 60 though
Pre-reqs completed: Taking calc 2 in spring — making this clear because this was a big stress for me, wondering if I could get in w/o calc 2 done :))
Essay: My UC essays were rushed but my Haas specific was really good 8/10
Resume: 8/10 started a small business, work experience, internship etc
Comments: I had an interview and took calc 2 spring. Take that as you will
Congrats to those who got in! Looking forward to meeting the next transfer class in the coming months. In the meantime, just relax, you’ve earned it. If you can, I highly recommend you register for Precore ASAP. Demand has been increasing year by year and the spots fill up fast. Let me know if you have any questions and again, congratulations!!
Hey everyone!
I know I haven’t participated at all in this thread. That was mainly due to the fact that everyone’s stats looked wayyy better than mine so I was convinced that I didn’t stand a chance of getting into UCB. I was expecting a rejection letter this afternoon but surprisingly I managed to get into HAAS! I am truly lost for words right now!!! Looking forward to meeting all those who got accepted and for those who got rejected, my advice would be to keep pushing and never give up on yourself. I applied to UCB last year and got rejected. I was so sad and constantly told myself that I wasn’t good enough. However, I got in this year so there is always a second chance =)
Stats:
Accepted
I was offered an interview
GPA: 3.95
College transferring from: CSU
Units completed: About 75 (but I’m not sure if some of them will transfer)
Completed all pre-reqs (had to take a few at a CC because the CSU I’m at didn’t offer those classes)
Essays: My UC essays were probably average at most, but I really worked hard on the Haas Supplemental Essay (Perhaps the best essay I have ever written)
ECs/Resume: Treasurer of two organizations on campus; full-time summer job at a furniture store; Member of two business honor societies
I know my stats aren’t as impressive as others, but I’m guessing my diverse background really boosted my chances of getting in. I moved to America 3 years ago and frequently talked about my experiences from another country in my interview and essays. I know Haas emphasizes diversity so I’m guessing this is what helped me get in.
Accepted With Interview
College Transferring from: California Community College
GPA: Overall 3.91
CCC (4.0)
UC (3.53)
Units Completed: 63 Units by end of Spring 2019
Pre-reqs completed: Completed all except for Calc 2 (Spring 2019)
Essays: Worked on them for months up until submission. Had some quite unique topics that I wrote about.
EC/Resume: Extensive work experience and extracurriculars. Pulled really meaningful experiences from them for my essays.
Comments: Spent my first quarter at a UC school and then transferred back to a CCC. Received a W in Calc 1 and retook it for an A. One W, even in a pre-req, doesn’t mean your chances are ruined.
Just goes to show that Haas is something else. Good luck to everyone that got in and congratulations. Y’all deserved it. And to those that got rejected, don’t feel bad about yourselves. There is nothing to be ashamed of. We’re still good students haha
Accepted with interview
I will post my stats later since I am out of mind now :))))))
Is anyone looking for housing now? and how can I register for the Precore?
Hi @Ak1097, I saw you mentioned about the Precore, can you share some tips about registering and housing?
Admitted! I am in disbelief. This has truly been a wild ride. Will post full stats later…
Congratulations to my fellow admits! I look forward to meeting you in person. Please feel free to DM me on here if you are going to Transfer Day May 4th and want to link up!
To all those denied, don’t let it define you… after all being blessed to be able to study from any University of California is such an incredible feat that not many are able to pursue. We are all winners!
@emmamai precore details will be released in an email and if you’re able to make it, there will be a transfer welcome event on the 4th (email with details to be sent out soon). At the event you can mingle with other hassies and find housing options for summer subletting. Otherwise, join the Berkeley FB housing groups ASAP, summer housing options can be limited sometimes.
Probably both the haas essay and ECs my have been my weakness. My haas essay wasn’t the best probably, or maybe everyone else’s was that much better. It was a hard prompt but I definitely did put a lot of work into it. Maybe ECs as well since I didn’t have something that was like eye popping, but I did have quite a few ECs. Oh well, still got hopes for USC and UCLA haha
Hi @Scaar25, I honestly have a similar situation. I came to the U.S 4 years ago with no English :)) I feel ya. Are you goona stay on campus or off campus. I’m just trying to make friends and also look for a roommate
