UC Berkeley. Is Rugby a big factor?

My stats are alright.
SATs: 1910 690 M 640 W 580 CR
SAT IIs. MathII 620 Physics 680
3.59 G.P.A

I know my statistics are pretty crap for Berkeley, and i would never get i without some sort of miracle. But im applying for sports (rugby) as well, are my stats good enough?
I played rugby for my school team for 4 years. I played for U18s Dutch Rugby team, and various U18 allstar teams. If you need to know anything else about Rugby (theres looots more) or school extra ciricullum (lots more aswell) just ask

I don't think your sports is going to help that much, unless you are nation wide renowned for rugby...but who knows.

The coach recruiting you will give you the best answer.

Not meaning to sound cocky, but im in the top 50 players of my position in europe at the moment i would think.... with stats and awards to back it up aswell.

What has the coach told you? Usually by now they have committed to their recruits.

that is the wierd part, ive just gotten an email telling me they are only now putting me under review and have passed my stats over to the next coach...wierd, so im not too sure as of yet

Is this because my SATs are too low?

alright, ill give you more acedemic information on me.

I do the british system (A Levels) which are credits for (usually) a semester or 2 of the give subject in american universitys. I take Biology, Physics Chemistry, Drama and Math.
I have gotten relatively decent grades in the past few years, maintaining an 3.5+ gpa throughout my highschool career.

My ECs
Model United Nations, i have done around 15 of these conferences last year, and will do 5 more this year, each time holding prestigeous positions.

Rugby, i have played rugby for a club team for 7 years, and was recently drafted onto the Dutch National Squad for under 18s, however i quit that team in order to join a more prestigueos all star european team, where i started every match in my desired position.

Head of Student council for middle school this year, and i was a representative for the student council for 4 years.

I am (in tangent with my family) in charity work in Zimbabwe for reabilitating the lower school system throughout rural areas just outside of Harare

Participated and contributed to the schools musical/drama perfomances for my junior and senior year

(in the british system, there are no 'school clubs' or associations as there are in american highschools)

My work experience includes:
Shadowing a Doctor in Harare, Zimbabwe this summer (etremely difficult to get into the country for americans)
Shadowing a Doctor in Cape Town, South Africa
Student Work Program at Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in the Hague
Student Work Program at the UN, branch International Criminal Court in the Hague

Awards:
Excellence in Drama (junoir)
Rugby award, too many to count, but 2 in freshman year, 1 in sophomore and 3 junoir year. Including most promising rising star in School rugby in my freshman year.

So keeping in mind this, what do you think my chances are?

It sounds like you were not in touch with the coach in time to be recruited for this year. Athletic recruitment is a vey organized process.

The coaches chose their recruits long ago for this year, and for the most part and started talking to them last summer. You may get lucky and find a coach with a whole in his team, but it is very, very late. Without the support of the coach it will not help you get in.
