UC Berkeley Leadership Award Alumni Scholarship?

when do we find out if we were chosen for the leadership scholarship?

Not sure but my son has his interview tomorrow. We are in South Orange County.

*** i had my interview like more than a month ago. ugh i want to know!

I know. My son’s interview is so late… Not sure what the deal is. I think I read somewhere that you find out around June 17th so you don’t have much longer to wait. Hang in there. My son is dreading the interview…

same haha june 17thhhhh

oh okay thanks. tell him not to worry, the interview was really smooth and straight forward. the recent graduates were real easy to talk to and they were excited to talk to me and all the other candidates for the scholarship.

That’s good news. I will let him know. He’s kind of shy so this stuff is not his favorite thing to do, and he is really excited that it is the day of Prom - NOT! haha

lol screw prom. i ditched my prom for state finals for the ucla alumni scholarship.

hahahahaha!!!

ANOTHER interview???!?!?! I just received an email saying there will be ANOTHER interview. WHY is this happening? Isn’t one enough. How many of us are left?

Huh? You already took your interview for the Finalist round and have to take another one?

Really? My son just did his interview on Saturday… There’s another one?

This was the email for the one in May:
May 5, 2010

Dear Applicant for The Leadership Award,

You have two reasons to be congratulated today. First, on your decision to attend UC Berkeley, the #1 ranked public University in the country. Secondly, you have advanced to the finalist round for The Leadership Award, one of the most prestigious awards at UC Berkeley.

Your Next Steps:
You will be contacted by May 17, 2010 by a UC Berkeley Alumni “District Chair” to schedule your finalist interview date and time.

· If you live in an area where an in-person interview is not possible, you will be notified of a phone or Skype interview date and time.
· A requirement is that you must be available for an interview during May 9 - June 7, 2010. If you cannot make an interview (in person or by phone) or do not respond after three (3) attempts to be contacted, you will be disqualified as a candidate and no longer under consideration for this scholarship.

We appreciate your flexibility in advance.

What to Expect & Interview Tips:

 • You will have one (1) interview that will last approximately 20-30 minutes

 • You will be interviewed by an Interview Panel consisting of 2-4 Cal Alumni

I’m guessing there was a tie in the score and you are interviewing to break the tie.

If we didn’t get informed of doing another interview, does that mean we didn’t make it?

No, that means that a follow up interview wasn’t needed to make a decision, you could still have won the scholarship.

It just means that they’ve already decided for you, whether good or bad.

OMG my life sux.

Has anyone been notified yet?

I haven’t… I’m getting nervous.
