Hi! I’m a high school senior planning to apply to UC Berkeley’s MET program this fall.
Does anyone have any information on if the program provides any extra help with finding internships? I know Berkeley’s a really big public school and that MET’s supposedly a small program, but how does that affect recruiting opportunities? I’m really hoping to get a job at a Silicon Valley tech company after college.
Hi @aks523!! I’m a junior in UCB M.E.T. and serve as the VP of Admissions and Marketing.
The MET program provides a lot of support around finding internships-- I personally found all three of my internships through directed recruitment that MET provides. I’ve felt that MET really provides a small-school feel with the opportunities of such a large school like UCB.
We have Company Meet & Greets monthly during the semester where employers come visit our students specifically as well many opportunities that arise from employers receiving MET resume books.
If you’re hoping to work in Silicon Valley, MET is a wonderful place to get that experience and prepare for that career path.
To learn more about the supplemental essay, visit the MET program’s YouTube-- we’ve released a video on how to answer the supplemental essay question! I think what really worked for was conveying why I felt I could make an impact studying business and engineering together.
