To be honest about it, I think she has better chances of getting into Cornell than Berkeley with stats like that. Her SATs aren’t remarkable, but at least decent. Sadly, Berkeley weighs HS GPA more than they do SATs and her HS GPA is below Berkeley median admitted students.

As for academic standard, Berkeley has got the edge over Cornell and that is specially so if we’re talking about STEM here.

Thanks RML… BTW, we live in the tristate area NY/CT … so we are out of state as far as UC berkeley or any UC schoool.
How does it increase or decrease our chances @ UC Berkeley.
We are really hoping for UC Berkeley.

Good chance of getting into Berkeley

No chance at all for Berkeley.

good chance in my opinion.

The state of California is foaming at the mouth for full-pay, out-of-state students to come to UCs.

The acceptance rates for OOS students across the entire system are all several percentage points higher than those for in-staters (of course other factors may be in play too).

Interpret this as you wish.

“We are out of state as far as UC berkeley or any UC schoool. How does it increase or decrease our chances @ UC Berkeley.”

It definitely increases your chances, but I’m not sure it’ll be enough to tip the scales in her favor.
