I just submitted my SIR yesterday and my residence status is "pending"
Right after I submitted my SIR, a new step is created on the checklist.
It says
"Non-Immigrant Information Form (NIF) to request visa documents
Complete and submit the Non-immigrant Information Form (NIF) as part of your admissions acceptance. The NIF also gathers data for producing the I-20 or DS-2019 document most international students need to get an F-1 or J-1 visa or to transfer to UC Berkeley.
If you are a U.S citizen or Permanent Resident currently holding a valid green card, you do not need to submit the NIF.
If your application for Permanent Resident status is pending (not yet approved), you must complete the NIF."

I am very confused because I have a green card.
So it means I don't have to submit the NIF. Do I?
Also, why is my residence status is "pending"?
Can anyone please answer me tot

Don’t worry about this form. These people are stupid with a capital S. I don’t really understand why they make us fill this form. (I have applied for permanent residency based on the fact that my wife is a US citizen, and my case is pending). This form is primarily for INTERNATIONAL students.

After having a couple heart attacks and gettin real mad and throwing a fit around my house , I finally was able to access this form (you have to wait 48 to 72 hours after the SIR. It’s just a FORMALITY. I had asked the same question you had on the Berkeley forums.

All you have to do is fill in 3 or four fields (I filled in “pending permanent resident”), and it will eliminate you out of the system, and that’s the end of it!! phew!!! There is also a field marked “permanent resident” which I believe will apply to you.

…Oh sorry, after all that… I missed that you said you were a permanent resident. Yes, you don’t even have to fill that form out.

Your resident status classification won’t be available for a good 6+ weeks or so. It’s gonna be a good long wait!!
