Where is the best area/place in Berkeley to rent an apartment? I want to be near UC Berkeley. I’ve also heard that you can’t stay in an off campus apartment freshman year @ UCB? Is this true? And are dorms or apartments better?
Anywhere besides West Berkeley and South Berkeley is pretty safe. My girlfriend lived off campus after freshman year in a few different apartments. First at Dwight/Shattuck, then at Channing/Fulton, and then in Rockridge a few blocks away from the bart station. I liked Rockridge the most for sure.
