This is a hypothetical question since decisions are not out yet, but if I was accepted to both, which would be the best school overall? I plan on majoring in Computer Science, so according to rankings, both schools are great for the subject. I am interested in other aspects of both colleges such as which one offers a better social life/activities, better campus, diversity of people etc. ? I am an out-of-state student so both schools will be expensive, however money is not an issue.
I’ve been to both schools although I only know CS majors at Berkeley. I personally think the social scene at Berkeley is far superior owing to the diversity of majors and subsequent related activities. I’ve attended parties at both schools and both were fine. Not too crazy, but nothing like what I’d imagine a BYU dance to be like. In terms of the campus, Georgia Tech is IMO more aesthetically pleasing but the city of Berkeley is far better than the part of ATL immediately adjacent to GTech. Both schools have a great diversity of people although UCB has a far higher percent of instate students (keep in mind that California is the third largest state in the nation which means in the time it takes to go from Berkeley to San Diego, a student could go from Georgia Tech to Richmond, VA)
