Which one do you feel will give me a better education? I am a prospective CS/Astro major. I love both the schools but I'm slightly tilted towards UCB because of it's better CS programme. I haven't been to either of the schools. Please help me decide!
I'm also looking for a more practical hands on education as opposed to a purely theoretical one. Sorry if I come across as ignorant, I'm just trying to take an informed decision!
EECS major...

I’m also interested in Robotics and AI

Harvey Mudd definitely offers a better education than Berkeley, IMO.

I think both Berkeley and Mudd will be very theoretical. The best “hands-on” engineering college is probably CalPoly SLO. It might seem strange, but there is a random students every now and again that choose SLO over Berkeley because they prefer the “hands on” approach of the CalState. The entire UC system is based on teaching “theoretical” concepts.

In terms of “hands on” in the research or career sense, you’re significantly more likely to find a research opportunity at Mudd. It the second top PhD productivity universities in the nation. Berkeley probably has the better internship opportunities being in the Bay Area, though. Overall, the latter advantage does not balance out the former, however, because an overwhelming number of Mudd students will get their research opportunities and you’ll still have to work and compete for your Berkeley internship slots.

Harvet Mudd is better than Berkeley for undergrad, hands down. go to Berkeley for grad school
