UC BERKELEY or NYU-STERN

I like both places... but they're so different.... this is my dilemma

First... I want to do business... plan on getting an MBA... I am already in Stern... but not Haas which I have heard is really hard to get into too...

Second... dorms at NYU are better with their own bathrooms

Third... NYU is in the middle of the city... Berkeley is outside of the city but has a campus...

Fourth... its colder in NY then in SF...

hmm... what else...

Fifth... UC Berkeley is more prestigious then NYU???

Sixth... I live in Los Angeles... so Berkeley would be definitely closer... New York would be a huge leap...

Seventh... after financial aid at NYU they are around the same price per year..

At this point... I'm so stuck... give me your opinions and two cents... o and I'm going to CAL DAY tomorrow so that might help

visit the campuses first and pick the one you like

The problem with visiting the campuses are that NYU doesn’t even really have a campus.

it’s a city campus with no “traditional campus look” but by going there you get a sense of feel of how going to college there is like. maybe you like the city or like the traditional campus.

that’s the point of visiting. some students really like having a contained campus. while some students, like me, could care less and would prefer an urban campus.

do u have a major that your set on? if u want to do finance or int’l business…stern is great for that. i’m not too sure what haas excels in.

I actually had the same dilemma. I narrowed it down to NYU and UCBerkeley, am from LA and would have to pay the same after financial aid. You should do research about the classes you would take and the requirements needed for both schools. Then, if you wanted, you could visit both campuses and see if you fit in with the students that go there. Either way, you can’t go wrong; They’re both really great schools.
In the end, i decided on NYU because I wanted to try living somewhere out of California and it seemed like a really exciting opportunity. Also, I would have fewer requirements to deal with for my major.
