My son got admitted into these and would like to go to UCB for pre-med track by either taking MCB or IB. But heard many negative stories. Is there anyone who has completed this and went to medical school she’d done light on this please?
Do you have any other choices?
If you are good you can be successful anywhere. A kid I know went through UCB and is a MD from Case Western.
But I know it’s hard at UCB.

Negative stories will be common, since most pre-med frosh (generally) do not earn high enough GPA and MCAT score to make it worth applying to medical schools, and most who do apply do not get admitted to any medical school. All pre-meds at any college need to consider what their alternate school and career plans will be.
UC LA, UCSD, UC Davis and Santa Barbara
DD went to Cal for UG and has been surprised at the amount of respect she gets when it comes up (she’s now an MD), I cannot see the kids at UCSD being any less intelligent or driven than UCB; I imagine each is equally competitive, so go with the one that is a better fit and if it’s a toss up on fit, then add the Berkeley prestige factor. I think UCLA is also pretty similar for prestige factors.
I am all about fit over prestige, but just don’t think you are going to have an easier time at a mid-tier UC, most of those kids are equally well qualified and intelligent, they may just be missing whatever crazy hook puts the person in the Cal/UCLA accept pile.
What is this?
@mom2collegekids I’m assuming he means MicroCell Biology (MCB) or Integrative Biology (IB)
