<p>So, if you look at the statistics on the UC berkeley website, it tells you that they admitted 34.3% of out of state students in 2010. However its about 24.7% for in state students. Why is that? I thought admissions was tougher on out of state applicants? Does this mean that out of state students have better chances of admission that in-state students?</p>
<p>Right now since California funding is pretty dismal they are more lenient towards richer out of state students who will be able to pay full tuition</p>

<p>A lot more in-state students apply, including those that probably shouldn’t have even tried. The oos kids, as a group, are generally stronger applicants.</p>
