UC Berkeley - Out of State - EECS

I'll try to keep this short since it's 1 school:

Asian (Indian)
Male
Can pay full OOS tuition
Decent NJ public school, ~10 kids accepted to Berkeley each year

SAT: 2390 - 790 Math (stupid bubbling mistake), 800 CR/W
Unweighted GPA: Not completely sure but roughly 3.98 or 3.97 (4.7 Weighted GPA) - 12 APs + MVC/DiffEqs by graduation
UC GPA: Probably 4.5 or whatever the maximum is (I have 8+ semesters of AP, all As)
Subject tests: 800 Math II, 800 Physics
Essays: don't know of course, but they should be decent
ECs: Science League (top 10% award), President of Mu Alpha Theta, potentially officer in FBLA, potentially officer in Science Honor Society, member of Spanish Honor Society, very involved with library volunteering(desk, shelving, web design intern, TA to a computer class held there)
Awards: FBLA 1st at States(potentially Nationals award in summer), Semifinalist at a statewide business idea competition, NMSQT (nearly certain), Silver key in NE region for Scholastic Art/Writing, Congressional award bronze medal

Thank you!

*National Merit Scholar Semifinalist (not NMSQT, that makes no sense :P)

I’d say high match. The only thing really lacking is the EC’s.

I’ve noticed that UCB pays a lot of attention to UC GPA and test scores. EECS is one of the most competitive majors there but the fact that you can pay full tuition and have high test scores/grades as well as a few pretty good awards, I think you have a great shot. Match to High match.

shameless irritating bump

your good for berekely, the fact that you’re doing multi variable and differential equations before college is a hue differentiating factor. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in.

bamp

I should have used all caps and ******** in the title :(

Don’t worry! You should be fine! It’s so incredible that you can pay for OOS, that’s the hardest part about getting yourself to Cal. I was accepted as an OOS and my test scores weren’t nearly that high. Be yourself on your application, be honest and passionate in your essays, and it’ll all fall into place.

Thanks  Yeah you should have seen my face when my parents finally said they could pay :D

You have a pretty good shot…like other posters have said, I’d put you at a high match.
Also know that if you do get in for EECS, you will have a lot of opportunities to get paying internships over the summer which could really help cover the bulk of your tuition over your undergraduate years. I know one Cal EECS student who was able to cover most of his tuition through outside scholarships and internship money -though that case is rare since interns aren’t usually paid as much as full time employees.

good to know :)

and after I just told someone off for excessive bumping…

bump.

You’re pretty much in. It would be really surprising if you didn’t make it.

With your stats, you’ll make it. Our valedictorian got in.

I’d say it’s a high match at worst.

heh, @theanaconda‌ you chanced me twice <3

Just as an addendum: for ECs I will hopefully have been president and founder of a computer science club in my school and I have done web design/social media work for a couple of local businesses
