I am an out of state four year college student and I want to transfer to UC Berkeley for fall 2012! I will have 62 credits by the end of my freshman year in college so I will be eligible. I plan on having a 4.0 for my first semester college grades (what they will see). My question is, DO I HAVE A BETTER CHANCE BY APPLY TO HAAS FOR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION OR SOCIAL SCIENCES FOR POLITICAL SCIENCE?!?! I just want to get to Berkeley, so whichever gives me the best chance, I'll go for.

Haas has extremely stringent requirements that basically only California community college transfers can complete so you will likely be considered ineligible for admission. In order to qualify for admission consideration, you must complete the transfer breadth requirements as defined by the UCs:

I thought that I have to have the prerequisites, language requirement, and 60 Credits for fall 2012.

Prerequisite Courses for UC Berkeley Students
Principles of Business–One introductory business course is required prior to transfer to the business major.
Math (Calculus)–2 semesters or 3 quarters of calculus.
Economics–Course(s) in macro and micro economics.
Statistics–An introductory course in probability and statistics for business.
English/Reading and Composition (R & C) Requirement (more information below).

Since I am an out of state four year college student what are my REALISTIC chances?? If I have a 4.0 college GPA how likely am I to be accepted? What other schools at Berkeley will I have a chance to get into. Since I will only be in my second year of college but the credit level of a junior can I not try and transfer after one year at Berkeley? I am also interested in political science. Would me being a white catholic democrat from Minnesota contribute to the diversity of Berkeley? (include in my essay?)

if you meet the 7 breadth requirements, the pre reqs you listed above, a language and the semester work, then you’re at 50-60% with a 4.0 gpa because that’s the max school work is worth
the other ~50% comes from your ec + resume

The 7 breadth requirements aren’t necessary for admission for fall 2011 applicants going in during fall 2012. Also what kind of resume are they looking for? Can you use things that you did during high school? Would I have a good chance with a 4.0 Haas out of state four year college student? (I’d pay all out of state tuition cash).

Are you saying as long as you have the requirements that MsSun pointed out, you are still eligible for transfer admission? What will happen to those 7 breadth requirements then? Where’d you get that info?

Wait so can you be more clear? You don’t need to complete the breadth courses in order to be eligible for transfer? Also if you took 3 years of foreign language in high school, doesn’t that count for your foreign language req?

no you don’t but it is highly recommended you complete as many of the breadth requirements as you can.

Yes it does
