This has been posted quite a few times. Good for people who haven’t really discovered it though.

However, Berkeley does have a legitimate website that shows admission statistics/GPAs with the different majors. It’s similar to UCLA’s, but not quite as detailed. The only thing is it’s had issues for the past year or two, so they have been trying to “fix” it for awhile. I remember thats how my brother chose his major when he transferred to Berkeley :P

do you know what that website is? Fix as in its not up or not accurate?

is it statfinder?

http://statfinder.ucop.edu/

I was able to figure out how many ppl applied, how many rejected, etc. using stat finders so yeah. but it’s kinda hard figuring out which major is which since some of their categories are kinda broad.

It was posted here a 1-3 months ago. The actual website is still up, but the link to actually get the stats is not working (get an error message saying they are still fixing it). I think if you do a search on this forum for it, you might be able to find it.

Btw, its not statfinder. It’s actually from the Cal servers.

this one?

That one looks familiar, but don’t think thats it. That one is talking more based on surveys, but does mention admissions.
The one my brother used had an ugly orange background. That was about 6 years ago, but I’ll ask him if he saved that website or anything.

yeah, i think i remembered seeing the older one like a year ago and it had like an error msg because they’re fixing it or w/e. But i remembered it had like a osr on the link so… they could have possibly change it altogether.

this one looks like its the one, but when you click it…it says its not working.

yes, that one! hooray for teamwork!

hoooorah and kudos

but its still not satisfying, i would like to see the admits by major.

haha I guess I’m the lucky one since my major was on statfinder and it’s an independent major.

For anyone that applied/interested in Public Health- it’s 35% admit- 14 students got admitted out 40 students who applied.

Oh now that I think about it, I think I used osr table before back in 08… it was really nice.

I thought they admitted by college not major?

^they do 10char

@ AlejandroMagno:

Berkeley evaluates you by your major. For example, admit rate for Psych majors: ~18% admit rate for phil majors: ~44%.

However, when you are admitted, you are admitted by the college…not by major.

You declare your major during your first semester.

^
That’s enlightening… and a realization too late. If I had known, maybe I wouldn’t have put Psych down as my major. Though, on second thought, I’d feel disingenuous and my personal statement wouldn’t have made much sense.

I actually got sort of lucky. I thought I needed a bunch of Psych prereqs still, so I just applied to UCB as a philosophy major (considering no phil classes articulate to Berkeley’s prereqs anyways, and I had 2 A’s in phil courses in general).

I was ecstatic when I found out that not only could I change majors at Berkeley (even into a capped major like Psych) but that I only needed 2 more prereqs.

I was still clueless with assist.org 5 months ago lol.

Sweet serendipity. So will you be finishing up your pre-reqs at UCB if you get admitted?

Do you know if the same policy applies to UCLA?

Oh assist newbiedom, those were confusing times.

I’m taking 1 of my last 2 remaining prereqs (Genetics and Society) over the summer along with an upper div. elective for the Psych major at UCB. This is a bit of a gamble, because obviously I don’t know if I’m in yet. If I don’t get in, I’ll probably withdraw from the classes.

Pending an accpetance, I’ll do my last prereq in the fall and hopefully switch into the Psych major. (I have a 4.0 in the major prereqs so far though).

At UCLA it’s VERY different. I had to apply Psych there, and I knew that in advance. You have to be admitted directly into an impacted major like Psych. Otherwise, it’s nearly impossible to switch. Thus, surprisingly, it’s actually easier at Berkeley than UCLA when it comes to switching majors.
