UC Berkeley Physics may be too much for me as a transfer.

I'm only a month into the semester and I'm already very much doubting myself. Community college was a joke, and I knew things would be different and much more difficult here. But, I didn't expect to be unable to answer a single homework problem without the guidance of a solutions manual. I either get the wrong answer or am unable to start a problem without it. I fear that community college left me sorely unprepared for this. Any advice would be appreciated. I don't see this semester working out so well, and not coming back next semester is already looking like a decision I may make. I'm taking Physics 105 and 137A.

You really need to talk to someone at your school who can help you. I’m transferring to UCLA this fall, and they have an abundance of resources to help with the transition for transfer students. I can only imagine the Berkeley would have similar resources. You would do yourself a favor to reach out to those resources sooner than later. I’m sure they can be very helpful for you.

I’m sure a lot of people struggle with the transition. You have to know that you are not alone in feeling this way and if you were smart enough to get into Berkeley, then you’re smart enough to succeed at Berkeley. Good luck. I hope you find the help they need.

@2016Candles‌, you mean you think you are transferring. Wait for the decision first haha.

No I mean I start school next week at UCLA. Haha

What how? The semester already started like a month ago.

All the UCs, except for Berkley are on the quarter system, and they all start next week - except for Berkley which started a few weeks ago. Classes start October 2. Google it if you don’t believe me.

I think as CC student transfers we’re all in the same boat. I worry about that too, and my major isn’t even near as hard as physics! There are many threads on this forum that you could search to see how people did after transferring. Best of luck!

I don’t know that intro physics at Berkeley with the large lecture format would have prepared you much better. However, the difficulty of the exams and subsequent curve would have at least gotten your expectations set properly.
