MY DD got both UCLA and Cal regents… she chose Cal. it is $1K per year. Since every penny counts it is a big deal.
However, if you are planning for a highly competitive major, then UCLA regents may be better as they allow preferential course enrollment.
As for my DD, we haven’t seen any advantages of being a regents scholar yet.

The BIG advantage for Regent’s Scholars is the guaranteed on-campus housing. Finding an apartment in Berkeley is a nightmare. That alone was worth any hassle this might be…

i have a really low EFC, so will regents be of benefit to me? I heard they cover all your financial need with grants, is this true?

@ib612:

true that. [UCLA Financial Aid Office-Scholarship Office](http://www.fao.ucla.edu/uclascholarships/regents.html)

@ib612. yea, I heard the same thing. Apparently, Berkeley’s $1k for regents is for people who don’ qualify for financial aid. But if, you have financial need, that can almost give u a full ride.

are the only people that have gotten regents this year in state?
