Transferring as a chem major from a 4 year institution
Earned B- in my second semester physical chem course, but my conditions of admission say “B or better”.
I have no C’s, my GPA still was above a 3.0 for that semester, and all of my other conditions for admission are in tact.
Will I have my offer of admission rescinded?!?
I have emailed my admissions officer twice and I’ve received no response for two weeks…
Has anyone heard of someone being in a similar situation?
Yes
Yes my admission offer will be rescinded?
It’s very doubtful they would rescind you for that, but you should contact your admissions officer.
Wow, early morning posts are hard to follow.
OP call the Cal admissions office as soon as they open today and ask if it was a ‘B’ requirement meaning any B + or - or if a “B-” is acceptable. Only they can tell you.
@music1990 I just called and they basically said “if we have a problem with it we’ll contact you”. I’ll update this thread once I hear wether or not I’m in the clear -_-
@luckie1367 I called and they basically said “if we have an issue with it we’ll contact you”. Not exactly comforting, but I’ll keep this thread updated on what the outcome is.
Ah, I was afraid that they’d be vague.
Please let us know how it goes. Good luck!
Good luck! Like I said, I think you should be fine. I’ve seen a lot of these threads, and people usually only get rescinded for major issues likes Ds and Fs, or not completing required courses. It sounds like you just talked to the admissions department right? If so, it might be a good idea to contact your admissions officer directly. His/her email address should be on myberkeleyapp.
@music1990 I’ve contacted my admissions officer twice in the past three weeks with no response, which is what made me so nervous!
Well, it is against the contract and a major req, but I suspect they will keep you. Just a hunch. Be sure to let us know.
UCs don’t consider + or - grades from community colleges. Mine doesn’t even give + or - grades.
@lindyk8 That’s a joke, right? Being anxious, concerned and a little overzealous are indications of not being prepared for Cal?
Who are you to even make a statement like that?
OP: To answer your question, assuming there are no other issues, you likely will not be rescinded. But, I would contact the admission’s office immediately.
@lindyk8 it’s not a major prereq, it’s an upper division course. The only reason I’m taking it in the first place is because I am transferring from a 4-year. Physical chemistry isn’t offered at most (if any) community colleges. I will keep you posted
@starkali I’ve emailed my admissions officer and called the admissions office. Do I need to contact anyone else?
@anikom15, they do consider plus and minus when calculating CCC grades.
@starkali , this is now the third time in a row (all in 24 hours) that you have misread my post. Your last comment doesn’t even make sense. Please find something better to do and stop being snarky.
@ChemTransfer14 even better that it’s not a major req. I agree with @music1990, I don’t see you getting rescinded.
Do they now? Well I’m lucky then. I’d probably have a lot of A-'s if my CC allowed them.
@anikom15 SAME HERE, haha!
My goal was just an A- since nobody would even know since it was just “A”
UPDATE: I got confirmation that my admission is still in tact and I’ll be at Berkeley in the fall!
@ChemTransfer14 Congrats!
I am in the situation, I got spring gpa 2.94 probably below 3.0, because I got 1C 2B and 1A in spring, but I have 2 As in winter. I have emailed admission and wait for their response, I am so anxious…
Congrats @ChemTransfer14
