Anyone interested in Army, Air Force, or Navy ROTC?

I am considering it, if I don't get enough financial aid.

ROTC is a big commitment and you’ll have to pay back the money they have given you if you don’t complete your end of the bargain. (4-6 years after you grad.)

I know the commitment. I used to be in jrotc. I don’t mind the commitment. I think I would actually like it.

I may do it, not sure. I applied to West Point a year ago. Almost got in too, had the Congressional nomination, everything. Only thing that stopped me was an injury that meant I couldn’t take the CFA until two months after it was due. If I was willing to take West Point then, I’m definitely willing to take ROTC on now.

Well, if you know what you’re getting in to, as a vet I can tell you myself that my time in the military was incredible and helped shape who I am today.

Also, a BA from Cal plus and honorable discharge is gold in terms of looking for a job afterward.

Thanks man. I appreciate the feedback. My dad was in the US Navy for 8 years and really turned his life around. If I do it, I would probably do the US Army or US Navy.

Hey,

It’s cool to see someone being interested in the Cal ROTC program.

You don’t necessarily have to go straight into the military after graduation.

There are two ways of satisfying the military requirement:

4 years active/4 years reserve OR 8 years in the reserve/national guard.

Cal ROTC is one of the most well known battalions in California and in the nation overall.

I have been participating in the Cal ROTC (not a contracted cadet), and I know a lot about the program and what it entails.

Let me know if you have any other questions. It seems like you do have a bit of a background considering your father was an ex-military man and of your jrotc experiences.
