So I know UC Berkeley wants you out in 2 years, but I really wanted to study abroad. Summer isn't normally covered by financial aid and what not.

What are my options for studying abroad and if I study abroad, would UCB let me stay a bit longer to graduate?

These things take like a year to process after you apply so even if you apply in the Fall quarter, you probably won’t get to go until like the winter of your senior year. When you go over to wherever you choose, you’re expected to take the same amount of courses you would at UCB or any institution, so you’re still building credits for that 2 years. Are you a global studies major by any chance? Those guys are required to go abroad so I think they get priority.

However depending on the major, the place you want to study abroad might not have too many courses applicable to your major so you might fall short and have to petition to be there another semester. I want to study abroad for one year which is why I decided not to go to Berkeley since I knew it would put me at more than 4 semesters.

I want to study abroad and then I kind of don’t, lol. If I could while being at Cal, I might look into summer.
