UC Berkeley Supplemental Freshman Questionnaire

and black lantern. i wasnt calling you a noob, i was referring to the guy who was actually helpful, and who's username was nooob.

am i a jerk? yes and fortunately girls are attracted to guys who treat them bad. i dont know why. i hope you get in too babe.

haha I hope we all get in! :'(

hmm you can keep thinking that.

and nooob i hope you get in! (im sincere this time =) )

considering that cc kids are the upper echelon of competitiveness, there is a good chance we are all getting in

I know this is late but I was surprised when my daughter received the questionnaire for Berkeley. She is ELC for California, ranks 8th in her senior class at a competitive public high school. Her GPA is 4.35 with a 4.8 GPA for mid year grades - President of campus Habitat for Humanity campus chapter, Key Club historian, works part time, tutors disadvantaged kids, is a member of Screen Actors Guild, and AFTRA works professionally as an actress and has a huge resume - SAT 2100, 710 literature, 680 Math II, member of Math Honor Society, California Scholastic Scholar, etc..... Now why would she be borderline? She has gotten into UCSD, UC Davis, and Regents Scholar for UCSB. It made me crazy after reading all the answers - I am depressed - She had submitted her resume for additional information on her application and they sent her the talent questionnaire. Any thoughts?????

Did she disclose any medical issues in her application? That sets off a supplemental. She sounds like a lock for Berkeley and if they are looking for a reason to admit her, which they are, then she will get in. Good luck.

I have no medical issues. I'm probably borderline, if not below standards. And I didn't get a supplement request.

Think I'm denied?

UC GPA: 4.17
W GPA: 4.36
SAT: 1990
SAT II (horrible): Math II (600) Physics (580)
Applied to Computer Science, then Mathematics
NHS, CSF, Art Club, Computer Club, Mu Alpha Theta President (math club), Science Club, 4 jobs, income under $25K, 200+ service hours

etc. etc.

^ Only an Adcom can tell u, u look good though

mrstiddie - Cal also looks for people with interesting talents. They like to showcase the caliber of the applicants, thus they screen for these folks, flag the applicaiton and send out the supplemental to learn more. National champions, published authors, other news-worthy accomplishments will attract their eye.

Augmented review is not always for borderline. It is also for special talents/accomplishments, in which case it would help the low-stats applicant but also goes to high-stats people who were probably admits even without this. Then there is a third category for those with disabilities or special challenges - again this goes out independently of where they sit on the admit-reject axis.

It does mean the application is of special interest. That is a good thing and if otherwise your D was a very strong applicant, it can only be seen as good news.

No, my daughter had no medical issues - as part of the UC application it asks for supplemental information to add to the application so she thought sending in her professional resume would help her. She was puzzled when they asked questions about how she managed with school and what she would add to Berkeley with her talent. The email said it would add to her application and in no way would it interfere with her acceptance. I thought it strange being a public school kid from California and ELD that they would want this. Have students been denied because of this supplement?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows the acceptance rate for those who recieved the supplement and how tolerant berkeley is about accepting people with low gpas?

I recieved the supplement for talent and was pretty surprised that I was even being considered further. I take around 4 to 5 weighted classes a year, but my gpa is an low 3 unweighted
however I am exceedingly active in school and throughout the community. (key club president two years, class vp then treasurer, played two sports, link leader, club office, choir, volunteered on city campaign) and an sat reasoning score of 2070-- probably why they are a little more interested in me.

ya i got a supplemental for a medical issue... do you think that will increase my chances of getting accepted?

Yeah I never got the email, and I'm really scared that I didn't. I already got into UCLA Engineering, but my parents are crazy over Berkeley's Engineering. Here are my stats:

UCGPA: 4.13
Rank 5/240
SAT: 1870:Total 580:CR 720:Math 570:Writing
SATII: 730:US 670:MathII 640:Chem
ACT: 30
AP's: 3-English Langauge 3-Euro Hist 5-US Hist 5-Calculus AB

I'm really scared that I won't get into Engineering :/

Hey guys, i also got the supplemental application questionnaire/request for recommendation letters..

In my questionnaire, they asked some questions about my school, and some personal things like working a part time job, etc.

Of course, I've been worrying everyday about whether or not I got in..

As a student, my grades are mediocre, but my extracurriculars are one of the best of my school, along with all APs and honors. my class rank is pretty low, though, cuz i ruined my GPA during my junior year.
I'm the Drum Major of the marching band, editor-in-chief of the newspaper, along with Vocal Production, theater, video production/multimedia communications, part-time job, volunteering, csf, nhs treasurer, and other clubs. and my family's disadvantaged
SATs: 1900
APs: AP Lit - 4, AP Bio - 3, and i got some 2s.. :(

Do you think they'll think highly of my Drum Major and Editor-in-Chief positions? Do you think all my extracurriculurs will cancel out my poor grades in calculus...and chem :(

oh, and i applied as a Business major

Just as an informational question, is this a process solely for in-state applicants, or might an out-of-state applicant get a Supplemental Freshman Questionnaire?

Got in with supplemental!

^I'm out-of-state and got the questionnaire. But I got rejected. FAIL

For future reference, I was also accepted with a supplemental freshman questionnaire. :)
