Philosofer - well, because you mentioned Olympic Training Center and I know that’s in Chula Vista and you mentioned CSF which had to mean in California. Olympian High School perhaps? I go to Sweetwater and I also got the supplements.

As for the Letter of Rec, I was told that the title of the recommender shouldn’t matter that much. It’s how well they know you as a leader and intellectually. I had my Physics teacher of Junior write my Letter of Rec since she’s also my Science Club advisor and she can write well; published a book about Physics.

Philosofer - Fill out the supplement asap! And as mentioned from rider 730, sell yourself. Answer each question fully not briefly. I would also include the part where you had to work because of loss of parental income. This will not hurt you to fill out, if anything it will help your admissions application. Put it this way, my son got it last year, filled it out fully and submitted it within 10 days. He just started his second semester at Cal as we speak. :)

As for the letter of rec, pick the teacher that knows you the best. The title doesn’t matter. It doesn’t need to be one type of teacher over another. It doesn’t need t be a teacher for that matter. My son received the talent one two years ago. He was a nationally ranked athlete and chose his high school coach to write the letter. My son never had him for a class. The letter that was written was unbelievable because he knew him as an athlete, leader and scholar as he watched him juggle the rigor of his schedule with tournaments and his high school season. He was the only person that saw this. My son had many teachers that could have written the letter but only his coach knew him from this unique perspective. Anyhow, fill it out completely, get that letter of rec, and good luck!

I received the Talent Supplement a few days ago! Alot of people are calling the other supplement either borderline or disability. Does this mean I am borderline too or i have an extremely good chance of getting in?

Hey for all of you guys who had your teachers fill out the rec online, does the link still work after your teacher has submitted the letter? So if my link works, does that mean my teacher hasn’t submitted the rec yet?

your technically not supposed to be clicking the link… but anyway, if you want to confirm that your teacher has submitted the letter of rec, just simply log into your berkeley acount and look if there is a check next to the letter of rec. If there is, then your letter of rec is done, if it isnt then contact your teacher asap

Sorry guys, apparently College Confidential masks email addresses in the PM to prevent spam … if you PM’ed me your email address for the questionnaire guidelines, I responded with a “please email me directly” message. If you haven’t PM’ed me but want the guidelines (especially the “borderline” guidelines since they are too long to PM), contact me directly at freehelp (at) askmssun dot com.

If you are only interested in the disability or talent guidelines, you can PM me and I can PM the guidelines directly to you since they are pretty short.

By the way, please don’t post the guidelines online anywhere for couple of reasons: 1) Let’s not tell Berkeley how I’m coaching you. If they want to pose as a student to get the guidelines from me that’s their prerogative; but don’t make it too easy for them. 2) I spent a good amount of time developing these guidelines and they are mine. If you email them to your friends, please credit me for the content.

Hey guys I got the questionnaire last week and was surprised. My chances of getting into Berkeley are extremely low and I doubt it will happen, but I’ll still give the questionnaire my best shot.
My unweighted gpa is 3.5
My weighted gpa is 3.9
My sat score is 1780
And I hardly have any ec and was only in 2 jobs and I did do some community service.

What do you guys think, is this questionnaire just a tease for me. My stats are super low compared to the others on here.

fd3srx7 - Obviously, UC Berkeley saw something in your application to give you a shot. I would fill it out thoroughly, completely, honestly, with no short answers. There’s a reason they are asking these questions. This will not hurt your application, if anything, it will help it. Good luck!

hmm…I haven’t got any supplements…pretty much means I’m screwed
Oh well. Good luck to you all and wish you all show your best in the supplement!!

I got a supplement from Berkeley last week and I filled it out. I just received one from UCLA. What are the chances of me being accepted to at least one of them? I just hope I don’t get rejected to both ):

Just wondering, what are the chances of me getting one for Berkeley and/or UCLA? I’m really hoping for one because of my subpar stats T_T otherwise I’m probably going to be rejected

My advice to everyone would be, once you receive the supplement (if you do), don’t think too much about WHY - just give it your best shot. You have nothing to lose, and pondering the various permutations and combinations of circumstances that led to this situation will not help it at all.

@asianFaiI, I’d be surprised if you don’t get in either of them! Did you get the borderline supplement or the talent one? If you got the borderline one, I’m sure you just got it because of your GPA. As long as you explain well, you’ll be fine =)

Good luck to everybody else too! I am realllly looking forward to March! Oh, and did UCSD send out their supplements yet?
