Does the questionnaire actually mean you are a borderline if you got the borderline one? Or is it a computer type thing and triggered by your grades or something. How much of a higher change does a questionnaire give you? My gpa and sats are way too low.

Look at it this way. At the beginning of the application process, 61,000 students submitted an application to UC Berkeley. Pretty much those who applied are competing with 59,999 other students to get int Berkeley. However, the questionnaire is for students who have caught the interest of UC Berkeley and for some reason they don’t know whether or not to accept these students. Use the questionnaire in order to give reasons for them to accept you. The supplemental forms were only given out to roughly 3000 students this year. Pretty much, you have gone from a pool of 61000 students to a pool of 3000 students. Your chances of getting in are now even greater. However, by receiving this questionnaire does not mean you will be accepted. You can still be denied. But getting the questionnaire is a good thing!! So keep your hopes up. You caught the attention of UC Berkeley!

Wait I didn’t get one…
My stats are 1470/2230, 3.96 UW, 4.75 W (OOS)
essays were decent I guess and so were my ECs

Since I didn’t get one for borderline or talent does this mean theres a pretty good chance i’m rejected? D:

Oh and p.s. idk how to calculate the uc gpa so the gpa above is including freshman year and weighted gpa is calculated with honors/AP classes have an A=5, B=4, etc weight.

And I applied to bioengineering so I know it’s super tough for oos…
Guess I got rejected…

receiving a questionaire generally means that they are looking for reasons to accept you. If they wanted to reject you, they wouldn’t waste their time reading additional info.

oncloud: if your are OOS, there are no bonus points for honors courses. (Only UC-approved honors courses count for bonus points, and since your HS is OOS…) For you, just AP/IB coursework, and that excludes Frosh year.

But with a 3.9 uw and 1470, you have an excellent chance. Good luck.

oncloud9-
My daughter’s gpa and sat are very similar to yours. With these numbers I think that not getting a supplement is a good thing and that there is a very good chance that you will both be admitted.

Just because you did not get a supplement doesn’t mean you got rejected. Looking at your stats, it is probably a better indicator that you got instantly accepted. Most of the people who got the borderline supplement seem to either have “average” GPA or “average” SAT score. I got the borderline supplement with a 4.32 UC GPA[with a very rigorous course schedule consisting of 11 AP classes], and a 1890 SAT score. Pretty sure my SAT score is why I got the supplement…

For the letter of rec, does the teacher have to fill out the questions too? or can they just send in their letter of rec?

^----it can just be the letter of rec. But if your teacher can fill the questions out that be better. The more Berkeley knows about you, the better.

I got both the UCLA & UCB supplement last week

low income less than $40k in a household of 7

personal statement about working to help my parents pay rent

My favorite teacher is doing my letter of rec. (:

Hope i get in! i love the school.
But if any of us don’t get in…we’ll still do great things in our future(:
An acceptance does not define you

Alright i got the questionnaire too! I was wondering how i should send in my first semester grades? I just received them as my school is later than most. do I fax it to them? My dilemma is that it says it doesn’t read information submitted after 10 days so I a worried they wouldn’t see them in the space provided?

if anyone knows what I am talking about! thanks!

You just type in the grades in the questionnaire on your MyBerkeleyApp - no sending of physical grades. Just like the original UC application, grades are self-reported but verified over the summer for incoming freshmen.

thanks but i recieved my grades after the 10 day window they gave me to submit the grades?

still enter them. they may refer back later, otherwise no way to submit. nothign to lose

thanks very much, I guess it can’t hurt, I am assuming they are mainly focusing on the questions? but I input them anyways,

hopefully they do refer back thanks!

what are the chances you think they will look back and check to see if my grades were updates? and do you think it will hurt me if they didn’t see my grades?

thanks

did anyone get the supplement who applied to college of engineering? or more specifically EECS?

^^I applied as an EE major and got the supplement.

if you don’t mind could you tell me your stats? i didn’t get the supplement and i don’t really consider myself berkeley eecs caliber.

people have been reffering to the “talent” supplement and the other two “borderline” supplements. I got the talent supplement from both UC Berkeley and UCLA. Does this one not mean that you are borderline, and if it doesn’t, why do they send out the talent one?
