UC Berkeley Supplemental Freshman Questionnaire

sfmom3,
Thank you for all your valuable insight. I also got the supplement. I am on pins and needles waiting for march 29th to arrive.

@troy1111 - You’re welcome. Good luck! [My son received the UCB supplement. He filled it out completely, and he’s in his 2nd semester as a freshman at Cal.] He loves Berkeley, but he’s not gonna lie-- it’s tough. Berkeley does the holistic review, meaning, they look at the overall candidate instead of strictly GPA and SAT/ACT scores.

Post when you become a Bear!

applied to berkeley too. anxious for decisions.

@sfmom3

There are 7 questions on each supplement that they gave me totaling 14 questions.
I’m really, really anxious about this because I would never expect Berkeley to be so generous as to give me this second chance.

Anyway, here are my stats:

• Total GPA (9-12) 3.1837 (weighted), 3.2424 (10-12 weighted)
• SAT: 1660 and 1630 (I don’t know which one I sent)
• ACT Composite: 22; with Writing: 20
• I have worked at CVS Pharmacy as a stock person and at a local museum during the summer.
• I am part of my school’s first graduating class. It has had the highest API scores for three consecutive years in the Central Valley.

Fall 2012 Supplemental Questionnaire is still showing when I log in to my application status page. Does anyone who summited the questionnaire still have it showing or is it just me?
I summited the questionnaire on 1/29/12.

Thanks

UC GPA: 3.47 :frowning:
SAT I: 2110 (M 680, CR 690, W 740)
SAT IIs: Math Level II - 700, Biology M - 730
APs/Honors: APUSH (4), AP Bio (4), Am. Lit Honors, Chem Honors, AP Econ, AP Calc AB, AP English Lit, Physics Honors, and Spanish 4 Honors.

My ECs were focused on quality, not quantity:

Tutored students, 4 days a week, 2 hours a day afterschool for 3 years. I am currently the lead tutor (aka the President). (960 Hours total)

Programmed a software program for a registered corporation in the Bay Area and I also developed their website + I currently maintain it. (All 4 years - 1660 Hours total)

Interact Club Volunteer during Junior year (36 Hours total)

Track and Field during Junior Year (250 Hours total)

Essays: Really well written. Focused on how I tutored a blind student and a student with an amputated arm. My second statement talked about how I’ve lived in over 25 different places around the world since I was a little kid and how that’s culturally enhanced my character. Both my essays ended with the lesson/new insights that I gained through my experiences so hopefully that’ll count towards my strengths. Also in the additional comments section, I talked about how my programming experience demonstrates my passion and competency for engineering.

I applied for IEOR (Industrial Engineering and Operations Research), which is apparently not that competitive (only 50 ppl apply per year from what I’ve heard?). I didn’t get the supplement though and that’s kinda worrying me…

do you guys think that I made it because of the uncompetitive nature of my major + my really good ECs? Or do you think I was just rejected without a second thought about my application?

HB2012 - mine still shows as well, I don’t think it’s supposed to disappear.

HB2012,
Mine also shows.

I have a question. Do internationals get the supplement?

Yes, supplementals go to anyone that fits the categories (interesting, borderline, achievements, disabilities . . . )

Just wanted to stop by and say good luck to everyone! Ucla results in 3 days and BERKELEY IN 9!! haha I can’t wait. I also had a quick question. Among the 3 supplementary questionnaires, Which would have a higher chance of admittance? Would it be Borderline, Disabilities, or achievements? Thanks and Good luck everyone!

@fd3srx7 I’m wondering the same thing

Generally achievement, borderline second.

is it good or bad not to get the supplement

@rider730 Does it usually raise your chances considerably? Would it bring us up to 25-40% of acceptance? I am so nervous right now, can’t wait out those last few days!
@icantbeliveit I wouldn’t say its bad or good, maybe more towards good! I don’t know though.

Me too. I did not even get supplement from UC Berkeley. I believe I was rejected… :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:

Don’t say that Myomoo! You never know, there’s always a chance. You probably just got admitted straight =). I’m feeling kind of down and out of hope myself. I got rejected by ucsd and cal poly slo. It doesn’t look to good for me even if I got the supplement. Only a couple of days left so you shouldn’t feel bad! Hang in there, results soon.

Thanks. I got rejected from UCSD and waitlisted at Davis… :frowning: I don’t have much hope man… :(:(

=( I know how you feel. We shouldn’t feel too down though, Things happen for a reason! We might make it to ucb, we never know! Tell me how it goes on the 29th though!

@fd3srx7 For L&S physics major, I have 2020 SAT (2070 Superscore) 800 MathII and 800 Physics and 3.6 GPA. But I got WAITLISTED at Davis and REJECTED From UCSD. I didn’t even get a UCLA or UCB supplement. I felt really bad and not brave enough to read the decision website tomorrow at UCLA… :(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:
