KiiKi: That definitely looks like the borderline one to me. They want to know if you really pushed yourelf during high school and if you had opportunities you didn't take advantage of.

here are my stats. my counselor told me earlier last semester that i had a good chance of getting in at ucb, and now she said that im borderline... but she also said she is quite surprised.

top 1%
my UC GPA is 4.3
weighted: 4.25~ (+ second semester)
unweighted: 3.93
SAT: 2100
i think i have decent ECs (class prez, vp for a state council to name a few)
but i obviously didnt get a talent questionnaire
(im a jr. olympics swimmer)
but i wrote my essay about how swimming helped me overcome a disability that i had.
& i am also low income. $30,000

that is why i asked if there is a difference between the two types of questionaires!
thank you so much.

Yes, their is a difference, but not being an "Admission to Cal" expert, I have no idea what the difference is, except that the two have different themes to their questions.

im also ELC and am guaranteed to ucd.
a handful of kids at my school got this (according to my counselor "good kids" got these.. i guess berkeley is getting super competittive our year)

oh okay. thank you locke19!
hhaha. i guess my question would probably go unanswered since no one would really know how the admission system works.
but it would be great if people can post their questions to. so we can see if we have three versions. i know so far we have the talent version... and the version above!

okay. ive decided that im officially borderline and i need to go finish the 14 question questionnaire.

Kiiki:

With your stats, I would've agreed with your GC if you were applying the L&S. But, engineering is a tough nut to crack, particuarly since your single-sitting SAT is a 2010. It looks like your questions arose from the low income angle, driven from your lower SAT (in contrast to your gpa and strong subject tests and AP scores).

Are the different types of augmented reviews all due to borderline cases?

sorry i totally meant to type (1st semester senior yr) above!

oh okay. thank you. bluebayou.
i forgot that UCs dont superscore.
yeah. i think engineering is also a factor!

hey kiiki i got the same questions. but my stats are much lower than yours haha. when do you guys have to turn yours in by?

does this mean that it doesnt matter what type of questionnaire you get, you are borderline (aka. maybe pile)?

after thinking about it, i realized that it seems like it doesnt matter if youre low income (economic disadvantage) if they have send you a questionnaire it means that they dont know if they should accept you. they wouldnt want info about you if they have already decide to reject/accept you.

i was told by GC that UCs can discriminate based on income/disability. so she is surprised that there are a total of three versions out there.

xcrunner1478, i have to turn my in ten days. so the 12th!

Kiiki:

The UCs are looking for a reason to admit you, not deny you. If they wanted to deny you they wouldn't waste their time with additional materials.

Kiiki, you definitely do not have the medical condition questionnaire. I think you have the questionnaire for low-income/economically disadvantaged students. It's kind of obvious because it asks if your school provides adequate resources, has non-academic classes, whether or not you work, and so on. Since you didn't get a borderline questionnaire asking about academics, I think you should be fine. They're probably impressed at your stats for a low-income student and want to know more about you.

rita perfect, wouldn't kiki's (i got the same questionnare too) questionare mean that he is borderline? I agree that they won't want to waste money to know more about you, if they rejected you. But.. if they are impressed about the stats.. and wnat to know more.. doesnt that kind of mean borderline? I'm confused! kind of worried too since i got the same one haha XD. I already turned mine in a week ago.. just recently updated the grades onto it.. kind of afraid about my grades tho. I received 1 C >< (scary teacher, she gave A LOT of Cs and a few Ds.. WHYYY!!!! ><! )

rita perfect, hermainliu, kiiki i have the same questionnaire but i am not economically disadvantaged. i wrote about how my father passed away last year and how it changed me. my stats were horrible all throughout junior year so this can be something totally differnt. i guess we are in the borderline pile and want to know about us more. i think i got this questionnaire bc i didnt fit as well into the other two and bc they wanna see if i bounced back from my depressed grades..

Does anyone know when admissions finishes sending the questionnaires?

So if you havn't gotten one of these your already in the accepted/denied categories huh?

Looks like it, which is why I wnat to know when they stop sending them. I need some kind of certainty about my app.

you won't be getting any certainty
