UC Berkeley Transfer Help!?!

Hi

I currently have a 3.9 and will be applying to Berkeley,ucla 2012. this quarter one of my classes is extremely difficult (calc) the curve is working against my grade i m technically suppose to have an A- but the curve changes it to a C(I know crazy right?)

I am applying for political econ or something else and was wondering is 3.77 good enough? Can i explain to them how the curve is affecting my grade? Its just im in a class with a bunch of smart international students who pull off 100% while i get 93%. I still cant believe a 93% is a C

Please chance me

I don’t think it would bode well to say, “I got screwed b/c of a curve” because that conveys to ad coms that you’re not the cream of the crop and couldn’t handle the competition.

I think it is what it is, I have a similar GPA to you and applying for the same major and I’m struggling in Integral Calc as well. Just gotta grind it out and hope for the best

That’s a pretty evil curve in that class. 3.73 is alright, I got into EECS with a lower gpa. Try to focus on making a killer statement.

Yea, i am pretty scared though seriously just want to go to cal.

@Maninder

DO we absolutely have to take calc? so frustrating, acing other classes :(

@uctransfer2012 I believe that calculus is just recommended for P.E Majors at UCB, but for UCLA Econ you must take both CALC I and II. I think a 3.73 is fine for a P.E major at Berkeley, I would just make sure to have the language requirement take care of.

Yea, the language requirement is under control. only calc is bothering me. Does nyone know of previous years getting in with similar gpa’s?

A 3.77 into poli econ should be fine. Just make sure to write some good personal statements too.

Is it better to take a C in calc or take it next quarter where I can get an A,
3.77 with calc or 3.9 without calc?

@ uctransfer: I think I replied in another thread. I’d take the W. Hope that helps! :)
