UC Berkeley Transfer Thread 2018

Last year, didn’t the pre sir thing not show up until the night before?

@haley5799 i didn’t take any offense lol, I should’ve added at the end that I’m positive it doesn’t mean anything, I’m sorry if anyone got offended or if I was implying I got in or anything.

@jljackson UC Berkeley also does spring admission too. Apparently it consists of some “maybe” students.

Admitted!!!

in 24 hours UCLA will post good luck to those who applied!

@ericbadmon what does it mean, 4 addresses? Where?

@ohm888 I hate to revive this but

Apparently last year some folks saw the addresses listed on MAP ago from 2 addresses to 4 back to 2 and that was a “sign” they had been admitted

The Berkeley admissions twitter denied this it’s probably fake

@loewasp I understand your point entirely. However, gpa still matter for engineers who plan to get into bigger companies for their first job, ie. GE, Boeing, Tesla, etc. After that they care more about job related experience. But of course this information is only based on engineering majors/jobs. But for the rest of us, it doesn’t matter as much unless, like you said, you’re looking into grad schools/programs.

Conspiracy theories are a way to help us kill time before decisions are released. I know I should be studying for my quiz tomorrow, but I’m too on edge about all this stuff lol

@Sanla124 speaking of conspiracy theories, you might get a kick out of watching Buzzfeed unsolved (on YouTube) if you haven’t already, it’s very entertaining and indeed kills time

@flaminhaute this was a rabbit hole I didn’t want to go down since I have a quiz tomorrow I haven’t studied for lol but now I can’t stop watching

@gonewiththeair I’m sorry/you’re welcome! I can’t wait for the next season. “ruining history” is great too

Just to clear things up for that 2 address/4 address conspiracy:

I’ve been closely monitoring the MAP@Berkeley portal for the past few months, and I realized an interesting pattern.
Whenever you do a Transfer Academic Update (TAU) via UC Application, it seems like they send a new copy of application to MAP@Berkeley, doubling or even tripling the number of addresses (e.g. 2->4, or 2->6). I’ve made multiple TAUs and I’ve seen this pattern consistently.

You can delete the addresses by yourself, or the portal itself deletes the extra ones (e.g. 4->2, 6->2) after some time.

However, after the absolute TAU deadline (3/31, not the priority deadline 2/1) has passed, I’ve seen my number of addresses increase from 2 to 4, in early- or mid-April (I don’t remember the date). I left it as it is, and it went back down from 4 to 2 (maybe they made a final decision on my application then?)

Extra Information: I signed up for Berkeley summer session yesterday night, and got an email to make my CalNet ID in around 8am this morning. I created my CalNet ID around 2pm today (right after I woke up lol).

My CalNet Account Manager shows My Affiliations as “STUDENT-TYPE-NOT REGISTERED” (I haven’t seen mine changing from PRESIR to NOT REGISTERED like few others on this thread), and my CalCentral dashboard does not show any “New Admit Tours”, nor “Welcome to CalCentral”, nor “Welcome to L&S” messages.

Welcome to CalCentral/L&S messages seem to come in on the day they release decisions (a couple hours before 3:30pm), and they were proven to be a 100% positive sign of admittance according to the 2017 thread.

Not enough information on “New Admit Tours” message, as some people pointed out that it might be just irrelevant. Looking at the message dates from 2017 thread, if we were to received them (or already received them), it should arrive by sometime tomorrow.

Sweet @flaminhaute I’ll have to check it out. It might be the one my husband showed me about the earth being flat and what not lol. Oh and I have the STUDENT-TYPE-PRESIR, hmm

If anyone’s interested in the “PRESIR” conspiracy, you should check out http//:calnetweb.berkeley.edu/calnet-technologists/ldap-directory-service/how-ldap-organized/presir-ou

hi :> just joining in on the discussion out of boredom haha:

  • PRESIR changed to not registered recently
  • I have the new admits under my notifications (sent before I made my CalNet summer account lol haven’t registered for any classes)

but I applied as a freshman and got in (couldn’t go at the time for other reasons) so idk if that affects anything

Regardless of your admission results, you have great careers ahead of you in research. If i’m ever looking for spies, you all will be hearing from me.

@SFBayRecruiter :))
If you’re looking for someone, I have actual work experience to

@SFBayRecruiter if you’re looking for spies you’ll hire me, YOUR OWN CHILD, first. you know I could dig up some good sh**

does cal have a transfer day? if so, have they released the date of it?

@s014131 how did you sign up for summer session? calcentral doesn’t let you sign up/in with your map@berkeley id, or maybe it’s just not working for me? :frowning:
