@zhangers

Man I think you have a good shot. Issue is you’re going for one of the most competitive majors in Berkeley, so I can’t be a 100% sure if you have a good chance or not. It all falls on your PIQs I think.

Hi everyone! I’m applying to transfer to Berkeley from a CCC. I spent my freshman year of college at an out of state 4 year and hated it, transferred to a CCC for my sophomore year and am applying to transfer for fall 2018. April can’t come soon enough! Here are my stats:
Major: Political Science
GPA: 3.86
Major GPA: 3.89
Major prerequisites: Done
IGETC: will be complete by the end of spring 2018, one science class left
Extracurrciulars: don’t want to get too into details with these as they could make me potentially identifiable but I did a lot at my first school and I’ll be continuing with my involvement wherever I end up. I’ve held two internships related to my field, one of which I’ve been working in since the summer. Some volunteer hours but not a ton unfortunately.
Essays: 7/10- definitely not my best but I think I managed to share my story and experiences in a fairly compelling way.

Hi guys!!! Here are my stats:

CCC, applied to UCB, UCSC, UCD

Major: Sociology
GPA 4.0 with 49 units completed as of fall 2017, will be 64 at the end of spring 2018.
Major Prep: I have one class left to take but it is optional at the community colleges because it only offered at 5 or so colleges. It will be taken during spring 2017 before transfer.
IGETC: Done!
ECs: Volunteering at a local Jewish temple, donator of clothes and goods, worked as a librarian’s aide and currently am an academic tutor, 1st place in writing competition, 1st place in two advanced culinary competitions, feminism club leader, honor society member, two clubs in high school.
Personal statement: I don’t feel super confident about them. I talked about some health issues, and familial circumstances. I talked about how these experiences allowed me to grow as a student, and how I want to be a lawyer.

Thanks and good luck to you all!!!

Hi can someone chance me as a uc to uc transfer from uc davis. I know my chances of getting into Berkeley might be long a shot, because of the bad academic standing that was mentioned in my application that I improved at uc berkeley, as well as me attending a uc already . I plan on letting the uc know that my academic standing is good currently and not bad. I am miserable at uc Davis academically as a sociology major, but my parents forced me to go here as opposed to uc Irvine and ucla when transfering. The reason my parents forced me to go was because it was closer to the Bay Area. This will be my six time applying to uc Berkeley as a transfer student.I plan on switching to sociology, after getting admission. I plan on doing summer sessions again at ucb and the uc visitor program for two semesters which would put me over the unit cap to gradute. I have already taken one upper division sociology course at ucb which was sociology 167 and one upper divisions art class and one lower division art class.

CCC Student

I just applied to Berkeley and Santa Barbara. I did TAG for UCSB, so I’m not worried, despite only applying to two campuses. I’m applying as a Film Major, but I made it clear in my PIQ’s that I’m interested in designing costumes for film.

Major: Film Studies
GPA: 4.0
Major Prep: Done
IGETC: Done

I’ll be finished with all requirements by the end of the Fall 2017 semester, so I’m taking a semester off. I wrote in the application that I’ll be using that time to work and save money.

EC’s:
-Costume Design Assistant for college’s theater production (2 productions)
-Student Costume Designer (1 production, was the first student to design their own show)
-Work Part-Time
-Art Club Officer
-Note Provider

PIQ’s: I wrote about my love for sewing and collecting vintage, my struggles with health, and my experience as a student costume designer. I feel pretty good about my responses, but I’m still a little nervous.

I feel like my EC’s could have been a bit better, but every semester I was taking well above the “full-time” number of units. I took 18 my first semester, 16 my second, then 2 over the summer, and 14 this semester. Also, the extracurriculars I mentioned took up a lot of my time; With work, theater productions, and class, I was completely booked.

The counselors I’ve talked to seem to think I’ll get into Berkeley, but I’m not going to get my hopes up. Good luck everybody!

hiiiii everyone!

I was wondering if anyone could chance me for UCB

Major: Legal studies
TAP: No, my school didn’t offer it
IGETC: already done
AA: One associates in Psychology
GPA: around a 3.5
Major GPA: 4.0
Pre-req’s for Major: done

my GPA is pretty low because my first year and a half I was going through some health issues, and it caused many withdrawals and a very poor GPA. my last semester was a 4.0 though

EC’s: nothing special, barely any clubs or EC’s, but i was a grief counselor at a hospice, and had a couple of jobs, such as an insurance biller and a tutor.

Thank you in advance, and good luck to everyone!!!

@“osazuwa ogbeide” hi, it depends if you went to a cc first. if you went to a cc first then to a uc, there’s a chance they might not accept you, but did you start UC davis right after high school?

I have one C in a class; otherwise, all my other courses are majority A’s and a couple B’s. Should I ask my professor to fail me so I can retake the class I got a C in, or should I just work hard to get straight A’s in the upcoming winter and spring quarters?

Did anyone else get an email today about General Education/Breadth form?
The supplemental forms email.

Did anyone else get an email today about General Education/Breadth form?

@seaairuhh Yes, I did too- I think they sent them out to everyone because they released the form yesterday!

@cybaek some things to consider: How competitive is your major? Would retaking the class affect your upcoming coursework (would you have to take more classes in a quarter now)? ***Is the class a prerequisite for your major or a GE?

Since UCB is holistic, C’s aren’t dealbreakers (same with UCLA). I have friends who had C’s in certain GE courses, and they got accepted to UCB.

Also, yup, I did get the supplemental forms. UCB applicants need to submit those too.

@kookachim I’m applying as a Statistics major. Honestly, the class I got a C in wasn’t even a prereq for transfer, but I took it because it was a prereq for the math/statistics courses I’ll be taking this winter and spring quarter. Yes, retaking it would mean I would be taking 5 classes per quarter (which I don’t want to do).

Hey guys, now that fall semester grades are out could you guys chance me?
