@Mandersen0890 in my waitlist essay, i talked about things that I didnt get a chance to talk about in my application. i also talked about what I planned on doing at UCB and how they would benefit with having me go to their university. I hope that helps
I ask a lady in person from the admission office, she told me that there are two waves in June. The first wave is on mid-June and the second one is on the last week of June
@CollegeBoot Yes, the first wave is on the mid-June
I haven’t finished writing the optional essay but I’m planning on talking about some of the awards I got after submitting the application (hackathon prizes), grade changes and some of the big challenges I faced since then and how I’m overcoming them. Also thinking about mentioning how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE Cal and some of the things I will be able to accomplish if offered admission.
Last year they started hearing back on June 6th so here is what I’m thinking; the first wave comes out one week after the SIR deadline say June 7th then those accepted off the waitlist have a whole week to SIR (so say till June14th) after that they take one more week to review again the waitlist and send the second wave around say June 22nd.
We’re just going to have to be patient guys!! let’s focus on submitting that optional essay first before stressing out for real :)) ! Good luck to us all
I am just wondering why you would be concerned with the UCB waitlist. You’ve gotten into what I considered better business schools already. UCLA and USC. And better campus experiences and social life. STEM I get it. It’s Berkeley. Business school. Not so much.
By the way, for people looking to declare CS in the College of Letters and Sciences, even if CS61A, B, and 70 are articulated at your CC, we all still have to take the courses at Berkeley. Reason being we need a 3.3 GPA in those courses to declare.
@ucitag2018 you don’t need to RETAKE them the 3.3 GPA applies only for classes that you’re missing and will be taking at Berkeley in my case since I already took CS61A/B/C I will only have to take CS70 and I need a 3.3 GPA in that one only.
Is there any CC that offers CS 70? I didn’t think so.
@diane6239 BTW let’s say you screwed up CS 70 and got a B (3.00). From what I understand you do have the option of taking CS 61A and/or CS61B again for the purposes of getting the 3.3. Might have to be a bridge class that you take. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
@diane6239 really? Hm okay thanks for correcting me . i guess my friend wanted to take 61A again haha.
@ProfessorPlum168 yeah that’s correct, CS 70 is not articulated at any CC at this point. Also thanks for the info I did not know you had the option to retake it if you don’t get the 3.3 in the first place.
We only have 5 days left!!! what are you guys talking about in your optional essays?
@privatebanker Are you for real? Maybe better social life and campus experience at UCLA or USC, but no school gets close to Haas for undergrad Business on the west coast. I’d like to know why you think that way though?
Major: Mathematics
Accepted: UCSD, UCSB, UCD
Waitlisted: UCB, UCI
Rejected: UCLA
GPA: 3.4
IGETC: End of Spring
Major Prereqs: Done except for the discrete mathematics
I never thought I would get waitlisted to Cal since my GPA is really low compare to others. From the last years thread, it seems like none of the mathematics major got off the waitlist, so I’m really nervous. I think math has the lowest chance :((
Do you guys know if we have to pay for the opt-in application before we submit? If so, how much?
Thank you.
@caldreamer Paying for the waitlist opt-in? I submitted mine already and it was free.
@Ak1097 Thank you so much for the information. I was just wondering because I thought we had to pay some fee. I appreciate it!
Submitted my waitlist opt-in yesterday! Hope to see many of us get off the waitlist early June
Major: Society and Environmental Studies
GPA: 3.8
IGETC: done by spring
Pre-Reqs: done by spring
Waitlisted: UCLA, UCB
Accepted: UCSD, UCI
@ak1097 caught one.
just wanted to get some folks thinking about this question versus waitlist stress. Also if it doesn’t work out wanted the dude to feel good about his options. :-j
Do you guys know if we have to send the transcript? Because I don’t have my spring grades yet so I won’t have my transcript updated. Bu, when I submitted my waitlist opt-in, they ask to upload any document that it was asked, and the only option there is the unofficial transcript.
Sending transcript is completely optional and your transcript does not need to have your spring grade. I think that part is to update them about any grade change since you updated your application in January; for example if say your teacher realized he made a mistake in your grading and changed your grade from a B to an A after January 31st, you may want to send your transcript or use the entry boxes to enter your changed grade so they can consider it along with your optional essay.
