@johnbcuong I took 10 units of CC courses during senior year of HS +AP credit. 18 units last fall and did intersession classes as well. Currently taking 19 units this spring.
@jid621 wow. that’s very remarkable actually. I think there is no issue with 1-year transfer as long as you have 60 units. Did you have any other activity?
So guys I applied to UCB and UCSD only and I got waitlisted at both schools feelsbadman. Does anyone know if I can submit letters of recommendation in the opt in form in lieu of grades? Thanks
Updated from my last post:
I’m also waitlisted to Berkeley
Major: Computer Science (L&S)
GPA: 3.91
Accepted: UCD, UCR, UCSD
Waitlisted: UCB, UCI (kinda surprised)
Rejected: UCLA (maybe because I applied to College of Engineering instead of L&S, which I didn’t fulfill pre-reqs)
Also international student
@dwayneee: only submit what the schools ask for to remain on the waitlist.
From the UC website: There is nothing that a student should or can do other than opt-in to the waitlist by the stated deadline. Any additional information submitted that was not requested by the campus will not be considered.
waitlisted to UC Berkeley
Major: Computer Science (L&S)
GPA: 3.93
Accepted: UCSC, SJSU, SFSU, Cal Poly, OSU
waitlisted: UCB
rejected: UCD
International student, will be permeant resident by next starting school year
Has anyone submitted your waitlist essay? I’m about to do it soon. Maybe sometime this week.
I haven’t submitted it yet either, will also submit it sometime this week.
I submitted the essay couple days ago. It seems that we have the option to edit our essay or upload additional transcripts (in case you attend different colleges) by the deadline I guess?
Hi
I’m an international student.
Applied all the UCs
Rejected, UCLA
Waitlisted, UCSD, UCB
Accepted, all the other UCs.
Major, general bio
GPA, around 3.67
I don’t even know why I could get waitlist, I was all B for my requirements last semester lol
Just submitted my essay right around 11pm PST, best of luck to all of you wonderful peeps! I also had a quick question, I only took 2 years of HS language, and Berkeley wants 3 (not doing IGETC, doing general breadth instead). Would they rescind me if I happen to get in and don’t have that 3rd year? I hope that’s not the case.
Also here’s my stats:
Waitlisted
Major: Neurobiology
GPA: 3.40 after TAU
Accepted: UCD, UCI, UCSB, UCSC
Waitlisted: UCB, UCSD
Rejected: UCLA
Hi everyone! I also was waitlisted for UCB, which I thought I was initially going to be rejected due to preliminary criteria (GPA for sure). Here are my stats:
Major: Operations Research and Management Science
GPA: 3.5
-4 year CC transfer
-Have been taking classes since sophomore year of high school: 34 units before graduating early
-However out of range for the major acceptance GPA
IGETC finished in FALL 2018
Major Requirements completed Spring 2019
AS-T in Mathematics and AA-T in Economics completed in Spring 2019
Applied: UCB, UCD, UCSD, UCSB
Accepted: UCD, UCSD, UCSB
I threw major curveballs in the essay portion and had possibly ‘unique’ ECs but I think those may have been the factors that drove my app and made up for other areas I lacked.
I also submitted my SIR to UCD which has offered me a full scholarship but I still want to see if I’m Berkeley material. So I submitted my opt-in essay and now the waiting game begins. Good luck everyone!
Hey guys! I’m so nervous. I see there are a lot of other applied math/stats majors though, so that’s cool
Anyway here’s my stats:
Major: Statistics
GPA: 4.0
Applied: UCD, UCSB, UCB
Accepted: UCD, UCSB
Waitlisted: UCB obviously lol
Though my grades are strong, I’m worried cause I hardly had any EC’s. I think my essays were OK.
A friend of mine told me Berkeley usually admits a lot of people on their waitlist. But, she also said good luck finding housing, because by the time they make waitlist decisions all housing is filled up. Kinda sucks for the waitlist people
Good luck to everyone! Does anyone know when we hear back? Is it July? Also anyone know if they try to fill a general quota of students, or have a quota by major? If it’s the former there’s probably a better chance of being accepted.
Hey guys! I submitted my waitlist opt-in last week, may 15 around 11:50 PM.
Here’s my status:
Major: Operations Research and Management Science
GPA after TAU: 3.55
Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD
Accepted: UCD
Rejected: UCLA, UCSD
Waitlisted: UCB
AS-T in Mathematics
Kind of surprised that I would be waitlisted in UCB because of my GPA and my major doesn’t really have many students. Does anyone know if their acceptance based on the faculty(college of letter and science) or by major?
@LilacSoul The portal says we will hear back by the end of June. Does your friend know someone who get accepted to UCB through waitlist? Because I don’t seem to know anyone who got accepted through waitlist and that puts my hope down
So I completely read last year’s UCB transfer waitlist thread and it appears almost all people taken off the waitlist are notified on June 7, and very few after that, with the final rejections being released on July 1. The way it seems to work is they release the first wave of acceptances on the 7th, then after one week re-evaluate any open spaces left if any from the first wave did not accept… It is unclear how many waves after the first there are, though.
If I don’t hear back on the 7th I’m just gonna register for housing at UCSB. I suggest everyone here do the same (finish registration to other places) while not completely losing hope
And @pans09 I think she knew someone from last year who was taken off, I can ask her more about it next time I see her. Looking at last year’s thread it seems a few who posted were taken off, so it’s possible!
@LilacSoul I heard somewhere saying that they would notify first wave results on June 10 this year.
Really?? Alrighty, thanks so much for letting me know! Just two more weeks ?
Hey guys! It’s been a while. Anyone had any updates or hints about admissions yet?
Also, anyone able to log into Calnet? It appears people on last year’s thread were using Calnet to check for admissions updates but when I try to log in with my map@berkeley, it says “Unrecognized Login”. Don’t know if it’s a big deal as map@berkeley should suffice for updates too, I think?
