UC Berkeley Transfer Waitlist Fall 2019 Thread

Anyone here will even bother to call admissions tomorrow? If so please let us know what they would justify…

I bet a lot of students will call them tomorrow actually
After all, they gave people a huge amount of salt so they should expect to receive back some or all of those salt

Looks like Ben & Jerry’s and Doritos therapy for me tonight…

i got rejected from all my schools (uc berkeley, ucsd, and ucla). looks like i wont be getting a degree :frowning:

such a turn of events after i got admitted to multiple ivies and berkeley for CS in high school 4 years ago.

@ucberkeley2019 wow, it’s sad. why dont you go to ucb at the first place 4 years ago?

@ucberkeley2019 have you considered to reapply next year ?

I think you should still go for a degree. It doesn’t have to be at UCB or Ivies @ucberkeley2019

@Justabanana ahahah your comment made me crack?
I guess what goes around comes around, I am betting too that they will be receive a lot of calls tomorrow
Anyway, thanks to everybody for being active here, it has been nice being able to check the status of the situation. If it wasn’t for threads like this I would have been clueless.

@HaasAppeal well…doesn’t it feel guilty to not giving back something after receiving so much of that stuff ?
We are required to take humanity classes so yeah, nobody should be greedy to not giving back something

And if they say that it’s somehow a mistake tomorrow, I’ll laugh so hard lol

If there is no mistake at all, it will be quite funny when the future waitlisted applicants read our thread, they will sweat deciding if they would even bother to keep hope lol~

I do hope it’s a mistake. If this painful waitlist outcome is true then it’s the biggest joke of Berkeley in the entire transfer admissions history.

@johnbcuong

my parents wouldnt let me cause they didnt want to pay if i didnt get into CS.

also i had a full merit scholarship at USC which they thought was better.

@Justabanana I already applied twice to transfer to UC Berkeley, got rejected 2 years ago. I graduated high school 4 years ago and have already done transfer applications 3 times and taken 2 gap years after my first 2 years of college. i think its too late at this point :frowning:

I dont have any college to go to. im not enrolled anywhere right now and got rejected everywhere ./

Haha yeah imaging how waitlisted students look at this thread next year ?
“Welcome to a special episode of American Horror Story -2019”

@ucberkeley2019 I think you should go to community college and reapply again next year. You can save money as well as keep fighting for the CS too. I think if you’ve been accepted to UCs and Ivies, I think you can potentially be accepted at least somewhere good too as long as you keep your GPA up good. Don’t lose hope my friend, I did take a 1.5 gap year back home after first year of community college struggling for my choice of major as well but everything will be fine once you’re committed to fight ^^ Best of luck to you!

@ucberkeley2019 umm I don’t think it’s too late to start over. Maybe not UCB but other UCs, or trade school, etc…My aunt applied to UC in her 40s and she is doing great
You are smart so please do not block yourself like that…

@charon36 I already have 78 semester credits. If I take more credits I will be ineligible to apply to pretty much any UC or any school. What’s the point going to community college at this point?

Hi! Long time lurker here wanting to thank all of you for suffering through this excruciating process with me.
I will be attending UCSD in the fall for computer science
At this point, I’m just exhausted. I don’t think my mind has fully processed what just happened. all of you! I wouldn’t have gone through this with any other people.

Apply to more safeties/matches then, you’ll probably get scholarships too. A degree is better than no degree!

@ucberkeley2019 may I ask for your GPA and your major? I think there should be some ways for smart people like you. Or under any circumstance please don’t give up hope…Maybe not UCB or UCLA but at least I think you can go for other UCs at last.

@ucberkeley2019 I don’t think that you need to apply to any community college right now because it will just waste money
Instead, try to reapply next year but put some UCs that have high acceptance rate as a backup plan while still applying to competitive UCs. That way, I believe you will have a high chance getting out of this scenerio and heading toward the BA degree or even higher degree
Meanwhile, you can apply for some jobs this year to get some experiences or simply just earn some money to pursuit your dream or pay for the tuition
Hope this advice will lighten you a little bit…
