The only school I am applying to is UC Berkeley and I am going to mention that in my essay.

What do you think my chances are for Berkeley, and possibly UCLA?

If your pre-reqs and IGETC/equivalent are completed by spring, you’re a match. However, you should apply to more than school in the case you’re rejected from Cal. I believe only UCLA and Cal take the personal statement into consideration so even if your statement specifically talks about Cal, if won’t affect your chances at UCI, UCSB, etc… Speaking from experience, it is great feeling to be accepted to schools even if you have no intention of attending them, if for nothing else than bragging rights!

Yeah, its wise to apply to more than just berkeley. Even if the only place you ever want to go to is berkeley, its not worth staying another year at CC just because you didnt get into berkeley. apply to ucla and ucsd. They are both great schools and its only an extra 120 dollars. You can make that amount in…2 days pay? its worth it, trust me!

Your stats are excellent. However, I would seriously rethink your personal essay. While sating that you only intend to apply to Cal might show a strong desire to attend here, it could also be interpreted as an unmitigated display of hubris on your part. Not to mention that it would also alienate you from the UCLA admissions department (which I assume is also on the table by your post). This is your educational future… don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

Apply to MORE than one school. My friend only applied to one school for this fall and got rejected, and now spending time in CC during a (supposedly anyways) tougher transfer time. Its better to spend the money and have options then to not spend the money and go through another year when you got the units and the grades to get out now.

thank you everyone for your replies! sorry im still new to college confidential so i never saw the replies until now. I wish i had though, because i have already sent in my ONE application to berkeley so… all my eggs are in cal’s basket, and they can either break or hatch in…about 4 months???

Big mistake Berkeleygirl. Don’t come back here next may crying about how you gotta do another year of CC because everyone told you to have backup schools. Nothing is ever a certainty in this world.
