Are you a resident of California? Residency, of course, affects your chances of admission at Berkeley. I think that you have a very good chance at all these schools you mentioned score-wise, but I think the colleges would like to see more leadership positions/continued participation in your extracurricular activities (for instance, science club–are you still a member?)

Unfortunately I’m not a California state resident. I am a Washington resident though. And yes, I am still a part of all of the ECs I’ve listed. I am also looking scientific opportunities this summer like volunteering at a lab; I think that will help boost my ECs a little.

Are my scores high enough to offset my weak ECs and give me a match chance at UCB/Cornell? I am also an excellent writer, so I’m confident that my statement and essays will be good (I just have to think of something to write about first…).

By match chance do you mean 50/50?

I think you have a chance at both those schools, but those are not really matches for anyone. (Other than 4.0 2400 amazing ecs etc).

I think you are almost a match at UCLA and other UCs under tha that of you are interested in those schools.

EC’s are more about passion, leadership and depth than breadth. You have plenty, and engineering schools will like your science focus. Any ivy league is iffy, but you should be fine for the others. Your scores and GPA are good for all of the schools.

I’d also look at some of the other top engineering/science schools as well. UCB and RPI don’t have huge FA, are they affordable to you?

I don’t have an issue with a lack of provided financial aid. What other schools with top ranked engineering/science programs should I be looking at? I have Stanford as one of my reaches, and RPI and UW-seattle as possible safeties.
