UC Berkeley requested unofficial transcript to be sent to them via email today. Do you guys know if UC’s have started to reviewing applications yet? Also, do UC’s recalculate GPA or do they see what I saw when I submitted my application? Just curious. Please let me know!
I’m fairly sure evaluations have started. Hearst Annex, the admissions building here in Berkeley, has been more caffeinated than normal.
The UC’s do recalculate GPAs during their evaluations mostly to verify but also to account for easily miscalculated aspects like out-of-sequence courses, credit limitations, and recently validated/invalidated Assist equivalents.
I got a request too because I have academic renewal. They’re definitely reviewing applications.

Sociology. It went to my email, said it was urgent. I had to give them my unofficial transcript in 5 days or they were going to possibly cancel my application.
I got it last year. still got in. no worries
I didn’t get one. I applied to Haas Business Admin. Not sure if that is a good thing or bad.
Didn’t get one too. I am applying for College of Chemistry.

I don’t think it means anything in particular. I know I got the request because they wanted to verify something on my transcript, that’s all. They mentioned that if they can’t verify it, then the grade might not count, so I sent them mine.
I was just surprised that they are evaluating applications already.
Hi! I also got that notification for UC Riverside–which I got accepted at-- in which they will share with the other UC’s I applied to.
BUT.
I am so scared because I did not read the instructions clearly, thus, I didn’t put all classes I took (only UC Transferable one’s). I sent them an email saying that I made the mistake and edited it on my TAU. My GPA is the same, however, I think they just did that to verify somethings.

I would have to guess that it has to do with your GPA, as it’s pretty low (like, really low) for any major at Berkeley. Perhaps they really like everything about your application aside from your GPA and just want to verify it. I don’t normally look into these types of requests much at all but your GPA definitely does stick out.
I think, in your case, it might actually be a good thing … but who knows.
