UC Berkeley vs. UTD (Computer Science)

Hi all,

I have been accepted into Cal as an EECS major in the College of Engineering and in UT Dallas as a CS major. I have received a full ride at UTD vs. in-state tuition ($37K) at Cal. I have also been accepted into the Honors Program at UTD. I'm leaning towards UT Dallas at the moment.

I plan to pursue a Masters degree in CS at universities with top 15 CS programs. My question is: Will the fact that I receive a Bachelor's from UTD rather than Cal have a negative impact on being accepted into a top 15 college for Masters?

Personally, I would pick UC Berkeley. Their computer science program is well-recognized as being one of the best in the country. As such, all other things being equal, a degree from UC Berkeley may open a few more doors for you.

EECS at Cal is one of the few majors worth paying OOS fees for, IMO. Grads from that program are in high demand.

Congrats and good luck.
