UC Berkeley Waitlist

Hi guys, just made this account!

I applied to Berkeley and just found out today that I got waitlisted.

I've searched online for a while but found nothing (like, nothing!) about the acceptance rates for waitlisted students.

Does anyone know roughly how many of the students on the waitlist are accepted each year? I know that roughly 200 students were on the waitlist last year but nothing about how many were finally accepted.

Thanks guys!

Andrew

I also got waitlisted, I have not found anything online either.

according to this source[/url”>http://www.collegedata.com/cs/data/college/college_pg02_tmpl.jhtml?schoolId=1090]source, they had 139 on the waitlist, and accepted 139 off the waitlist.

This seems a little off to me however there is also this source which says that one year they offered the waitlist to 161 people, 107 accepted, and all 107 people were accepted off the waitlist.

Once again, this seems kind of unlikely to me that Berkeley has a 100% acceptance rate off the waitlist, but I really cannot find anything else.

Yeah, I found the first source too… I also found another source that claimed a 0% acceptance rate for waitlisted students.

Guess I’ll just have to wait and see… :|

I don’t have exact stats for you guys but I was put on the wait list. Got admitted mid April. So there’s hope :)

can you link the source that said 0% of applicants were admitted?

I was in the same boat last year! I was waitlisted, then notified of my acceptance mid April. The admission’s office posted data last year reporting that the small waitlist was composed of all out of state students who were all later accepted. While it seems unlikely that all of the waitlist could have been accepted, from what I’ve seen this statement seems true- I have met about 5 other out of state students who were all waitlisted and then eventually accepted, like myself.

Congrats Andrew, I think this means you’re in  Can’t say I’m not jealous.

I got waitlisted for this year too, and I noticed above that a few of y’all were eventually accepted mid April. Did y’all have to make a decision by May 1st or did you still have to respond within the seven days? I’m trying not to get my hopes up about being accepted, but it’s so hard not to with a past 100% acceptance rate! Hopefully Berkely does the same this year.

I really hope you get in! It’s my dream to go there when I graduate next year. Good Luck:)

The acceptance rate from the waitlist varies from year to year. Some years they may accept many students from the waitlist and some years only a few. You can’t really predict what will happen this year. It sounds vague but it’s the truth. Anyway, good luck!

Admission off the wait list does depend on whether the school gets a yield in line with projections. If the school gets a lower yield than expected, then the school will admit off the wait list. But if the yield is as high or higher than expected, then the school will not admit anyone off the wait list.

ucbalumnus is right. The number who get in off the waitlist changes every year. That said, that number is published every year in their Common Data Set under C2. The link below has the CDS for the past ten to twelve years or so. That should give you an idea. For example, last year 161 people were in fact placed on the waitlist, 107 took a place, and of those 107 did get in.

Anyone hear anything yet?

I am also on the waiting list and I haven’t heard anything yet. I am kind of disappointed seeing how people on the WL got in before May 1st last year. I really would have liked to attend Berkeley since my sister is going there right now but I guess I’ll have to submit my NSEOF to UW :(

has anyone heard anything?

No… sigh

I called them last week. The admission representative basically answered “idk” for anything regarding to the waitlist…

Nothing so far.

Decisions are up.

I didn’t get in but I’m going to NYU so I’m happy :)

Really? Because nothing has changed on my login.
