UC Berkeley

I decided as it's the night before and I'm taking bets, I'd ask for a chance me.

Transfer applicant, 3.72 (on 4 point scale) GPA. Coming from Los Angeles Pierce College (community college). Applying as a political science major.

I am IGETC certified, meaning I've satisfied all pre-reqs and so on for transfer to their program. I've also taken all their requirements (and a bit more) for my major.

Part of the Honors college.

Student government at Pierce.

Held job as manager of a tow truck company for 9 months (before quitting), and worked in graphic design for a year.

Co-founder of Political Science Club.

Volunteered as assistant coach at my old high school's debate team for 2 years.

Worked as an unpaid tutor for a year with special needs kids.

Did Debate in high school, included top 50 awards (statewide) in both International Extemporaneous Speaking and Lincoln Douglass Debate from 12th grade (2 years ago).

Thoughts? I included some other stuff on the application, but it doesn't seem as relevant/useful. Any honest feedback would be greatly appreciated on my chances of transferring to UC Berkeley.

To be honest, you have a better chance at USC than at Berkeley…

I wasn’t looking to go to USC, sadly, so I didn’t apply. Ah well, guess maybe I should’ve.

Any other thoughts/chances?

Looks really good! I think you have a fair shot. Just bear in mind, the competition will be fierce. Anyway, good luck!

But can you afford USC?

Yeah, I’m not looking forward to how fierce the competition is, but I’m going to have to hope.

I could only afford USC with very ample financial aid.
