UC Berkeley

I keep hearing about the cut throat competition at UC Berkeley. How does this manifest itself? Do your classmates refuse to help you or share notes if, say, you missed a class as you were sick…
Please give some specifics to explain cut throat competitive behavior?
I go to a very collegiate HS, where we help each other out all the time, can’t imagine not continuing to do that in colleg

@pristinechris I’m in Haas, considered one of Berkeley’s most cutthroat majors and one of the hardest majors to get into.

I’ve heard of people being cutthroat, but I’ve had nothing but good experiences. If you miss class and go to some random person, maybe they won’t help you, but cliques, friends, and study groups form in the major at large and in specific classes, I wouldn’t have a problem getting help from my peers.

I really wouldn’t worry about it. Connect with the people around you and you’ll be fine.
