UC Berkeley

How does UCB calculate your gpa? do they include freshman year?
also i keep hearing something about a cap in weighting classes once you reach 8 ap/honors semesters or years? please clarify.
thanks!

UCB uses the same GPA calculation as the rest of the UCs: freshman year counts (I think), but freshman/sophomore honors don't give you extra points.

"also i keep hearing something about a cap in weighting classes once you reach 8 ap/honors semesters or years? please clarify."

I think the cap is just for honors, not for AP.

WRONG... Freshman Year definitely does not count in GPA calculations. That's a fact!

the cap is 8 semesters I believe

8 honors semesters excluding APs?

Freshman Year DOES NOT COUNT.

I love that rule :). Bye bye crappy freshman grades.

no.. they weight 8 semesters period. Doesn't matter if it's APs or honors. (max gpa is 4.5.. although with 8 it should really be ~4.4... I suppose it depends on how many classes you take)
