And for the job experts out there. Can name some high earning jobs for different combinations of these my pursued fields:

Oh, I know jshain – at one point the biggest club on campus was Young Republicans – but in general there’s a highly politicized (and liberal) atmosphere pervasive not only on campus, but in the town as a whole. It’s so pervasive, it can be tiring, even to us lefties.

Berkeley will be a huge stretch for you anyway. In fact Davis average GPA is 4.1 so please don’t ignore the other UCs. As to careers, you will do best where your strengths are and passion lies. Follow that. You can thrive and find a home anywhere, I am convinced.

3.8 is fine (assuming that’s UW GPA) – it’s below the Berkeley’s average (of 3.93 UW), but it’s still within the range. A 2200 SAT scores aren’t very high for Berkeley as well unless you will be applying to the college of L&S.

OP, I think you’ll fit in at Berkeley and you stand a chance to get accepted there.

Not true of the UCs, or most Public Flagships. They MOSTLY weight actual classroom performance more than SAT=Potential. They assume high SAT and lower GPA = LAZY. The implied assumption is that laziness as a character trait is rather intractable. State Schools are not staffed to hand hold those who lack self motivation.

Politics is easy to ignore as long as you don’t get involved, I don’t see how one would be forced to get involved or have other’s views forced onto them if one simply holds to themselves.

Yes; Berkeley (and many other State Us) weigh HS GPA more than they do SATs. Most State Us don’t superscore SATs as well unlike the privates, and that explains why privates have higher average SAT scores.
