UC Budget cuts

For current students at UCSB

In the past few years how have you been impacted by UC Budget cuts.......more students per class, harder to get into required courses, less professor time, unfinished buildings on campus, paying higher fees, etc.

For out of state incoming freshman, out of state tuition fpr an undefinanced UC System, even though slightly cheaper than a private school tuition (USC), may be the way to go.

Please let me know your thoughts on this subject. Thanks!

I can answer this for UCLA… My D’s program has been cut. Less students, some classes cut. Less plays. She is a theatre student. In some respects, this is good because less students in the program mean more competitive. Overall she has not felt a decline in the quality of the program, although she did lose out in an acting course or two. She made up for it in taking courses in the summer in England, etc. As for general ed, she has never had problems getting classes and will graduate one quarter early because she had lots of AP units.
