UC Capped GPA description?

Hi guys,

Just a little confused for an out-of-stater. Is a 3.97 capped GPA good for UCLA?

A capped weighted UC GPA below 4.0 is below the 25th percentile for the majority of the UC’s including UCLA.

UCLA’s average Capped weighted GPA for 2019 admits was 4.25 with a 25th percentile at 4.18 and the 75th percentile at 4.32

For OOS admits 25th-75th percentile 2019 admits:
Unweighted UC GPA: 3.93-4.00
Fully weighted UC GPA: 4.35-4.80

2019 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCLA: 7%

See the link in post #2 for the OOS data I posted.

in a word - no. That said, they claim to do holistic admission so, an compelling applicant with that GPA might make it in.

You can use the FR GPA tab to see OOS accepted GPA for each of the UCs.

Ucla is one of the few school that uses the uncapped one too
