UCLA and UCB are reaches
UCSD - a slight reach
UCI - match
UCSB, UCD - match/safety
UCR, UCSD - safety

of course there's a lot more to the application...

UCLA/UCB/UCSD-reaches

UCR/UCSC- safe match

why is your GPA like that? You're obviously very smart if you can get a 2000+ SAT score

Ok, sorry here is some more information:

I ruined my gpa last year by getting a 3.0 first semester and then a 2.0 second.

I did have family issues going on at that time, so I am hoping it will help a little to talk about that in my essay. Currently I in in 4 AP classes (as a senior) and will have a 4.4 or 4.6 this semester, which I plan on talking about in my essay; I am also hoping this will help a little. This is my SAT I score. I will be taking the SAT II November 5th. We'll assume that they are comparatively similar to my SAT I scores.
Math: 740
Verbal: 670
Writing: 600

As far as ECs... I am slacking. The one sport I play is tennis. I currently work for a website design about 10 hours/week, which I started at the beginning of summer. A big problem is that I currently have no community service hours to speak of. I do, of course, plan to get enough to graduate, but is having a lot of extra hours a big thing? Ok that is the full extent of my ECs. Should I join a few clubs? Is it too late?

also... I have not taken an AP class until this year. I have taken a few honors courses, but thats it.

bump... is it any different with the new information?

hhm...the fact that you don't have any commun. service to date..your Ec's are weak...your coursework is ok...do you have any awards to speak of? otherwise your current resume may actually hurt your chances because UC's look for well rounded students..meaning kids active in their community, school, while doing well on SAT's and school work

UCB/UCLA: Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCI/UCSB/UCD: Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safe Match

umm... the only award that I can think of was MVP in tennis freshman year... but our school was just starting and we only had a JV team.

Will it help a lot of I work my butt off in the next couple months to get a lot of community service hours? What else can I do? Should I join some clubs? What other ECs can I do, or is it too late? And Flopsy you seem to know a lot.. can you give me the chances of getting into each of the categories.. reach, slight reach, and match?

how about a
uc gpa-4.0
sat-1870
sat2-math720
french760
ap's
ec's
....

umm... could you post your own thread? lol

hmm....try to get some commun. service work in but because you want to do it for the sake of your community and not just because you want to put it on your app..and don't go join any clubs for the sake of it because it doesn't really matter unless you were in it for a long time or you have an officer position...UC adcoms are quite keen on picking up kids who try to do all their community service and EC'S their senior just so they can put it on their app..

ok thanks... what do you think about Cal Poly? Reach or Match?

Also there is nothing I can do at this point to make my application look better?

And if I apply to my 3 matches, I will probably get into one of them?

Well, it would have been better if you had some ec's to brag about. Otherwise admissions will looks at your application and be like, "does this kid have a life other than school?". If you do some major ass community service thing like volunteering at a homeless shelter, you could have some really good substance for your essay.
