Those test scores need to be higher first and foremost. Those can make or break ya.

Hi, @Svfalcons74 Well i am studying and planning to get a good SAT and ACT scores i know those ones are really bad.

Hi @1939er, first thanks for your response, first my native language is Arabic  and i know i need really to improve my scores because they are really bad and for the citizenship i think i am alright with that and according to some people they said i have a good chance of getting financial aid otherwise i would not be able to afford it.

Thanks for your response.

@hekmatb: Having US citizenship will not enable you to get financial aid for any of the UC’s, you must be a California resident along with a US citizen. The price tag for the UC’s are $55,000/year as an OOS or International applicant, so until you get California Residency, you will pay that high fee. I am really sorry for your situation, but you should consider taking a GAP year and reapplying when you have residency. This will also give an additional year to increase those SAT/ACT scores which will better help your acceptance into the UC system.

@Gumbymom‌ I am already a California residence that is why i had problems to enroll in community college to cover some classes to get done with my A-G so i am not from out of state. What is a GAP year ?

Thanks for replaying.

A Gap year is where you would take another year in-between HS graduation and starting College. For many students, they will take a GAP to do internships, travel, work and in your case, possibly try to improve your SAT/ACT scores and then apply to colleges the following year with a stronger application. What you do not want to do however; is take classes at a community college during this Gap year after HS, since the UC’s would consider you a transfer student not a first time freshman. Transfer students receive less financial aid than a first time freshman.
It something to consider, since as @1939er pointed out, it will be almost impossible to increase your SAT/ACT scores within the next 2 months to a competitive level for the UC’s.
