Confused as to how your GPA is so low with such an excellent SAT (Trust me, I know most intelligent people have lower GPAs and higher SATs but thats quite a difference)… UCLA, Berkeley, and Cornell are high reaches, CMU, UMich and GT are low reaches, UCSD is a match

Computer science is a very impacted major. UCB, UCLA, UCSD, Cornell, CMU, Georgia Tech, and UMich are all high reaches. My stats are very similar to yours. I had an awful GPA and an above average SAT score. Here are my stats and results.

3.66 unweighted GPA, 4.29 fully weighted GPA, 4.00 capped UC GPA
2300 SAT score
800 on SAT Math II, 740 on SAT Physics
5 on AP Calculus AB exam, 5 on AP Calculus BC exam
IB courses
California resident
Rejected by UCB, UCLA, UCSD, and CPSLO for computer science
Waitlisted by UCD for civil engineering
Waitlisted by UCI for computer science
Accepted by UCSB, UCSC, and UCR for computer science
Attending UCSB

I deserved these rejections/waitlists because my GPA was not even close to the average.

You are out of state, so you should not apply to the UCs. The UCs care much more about GPA than about test scores. The UCs are also expensive for out of state students.

UCLA/UCB: Low Reach/Reach
UCSD: High Match/Low Reach

Your EC’s are lacking and GPA could be better for such a competitive major.
Are you ready to pay full price at the UC’s? If so, it may up your chances.
