UC Chances for a middle-class asian

Just try to hide the fact your Asian, and you have a better chance of getting into Berkely. I know lots of African Americans accepted into the Engineering school with GPA of less than 3.5 and SAT of under 1000 with little or no EC, and lots of Asian with GPA of over 4.5 and SAT of over 1300, with tons of EC rejected from the same programs. So being Asian only hurts.

well I'm not elc because I rank like in the top 6%. I really want to go to UCI because it would be very easy for me to commute there. Any more responses would be great.

lol u'll get into UCI. i got a letter from UCI yesterday saying i have guaranteed admission, woot~! haha so that's my safety now ^.^

anyone else?

The UC's don't use affirmative action. At all. So your point is moot, VTBoy. I don't think you know what you're talking about. lilcrazyguy1, don't worry. You'll get a fair shake, no matter what your ethnicity, at the UC's. :)

By the way, with your stats, as a Cali resident, you're in at Berkley and UCLA. Some of the less competitive ones may, in fact, reject you because your stats are so high. A friend of mine was accepted to UCLA but rejected from Riverside....so, yeah. That's basically all you have to worry about.

tally I do know what I am talking about. While officially they don't use it they still considure it in the back of their head during admission unofficially. It is a know fact. The only reason it hasn't been taken to court is because there is no way to prove what goes on in someones head. So it is still best to not mention the fact that you are asian.

Thanks anyone else?

please help me

I'd say you are pretty much into the UCs. Solid SAT scores, and your GPA is good enough.

arent uc gpa's capped at 4.40?

anyone else?

plz help me
