UC GPA: ~4.2

9 APs:

Physics C (mech)

The only B's in APs were APUSH (first semester) and Eng Lang (both semesters), the rest were either in Art or freshman year. 5 on all AP tests except APUSH

SAT is 2370
National Merit Semifinalist (so far, I don't think I'll make Finalist though)

3 years of varsity tennis
2 years volunteering at a tennis academy

...That's about it I think. I plan on majoring in Physics, but I'm not 100% sure yet.

If your in-state, your in. If you are out of state, it will be harder, due to the limited amount of acceptances they hand out, but I am pretty sure you are all set for most UCs, UCLA and UCB being the only two I would say as not definite.

Thank you. I am in-state, so that’s a relief. But I really want to go to Berkeley, what more should I do to solidify myself as a top contender? I hadn’t really worried about this until recently because it seems like I am a worse applicant than the people at my school who still have their 4.0s…Although one of my best friends got in there last year with a 1900 SAT and a similar GPA to mine. He won’t tell me how he did it haha

That near perfect SAT score will bolster your chances a ton. Since you are instate, I’d saw safety to match for all but UCB and UCLA. For those, I’d say high matches. The biggest thing working against you are undoubtedly your extracurriculars. But since you are instate, they shouldn’t be too much of an impediment.

I would say safety-match for all except UCLA and UCB, which are probably high matches-low reaches. Your extracurriculars are the only thing that are lacking, but UCs are known for not putting much weight on ECs so that shouldnt hurt you too much.

I agree with everyone else above. All the UC schools except UCB and UCLA are low matches to matches. You should have NO problem getting into to those. As for UCB and UCLA, I’d say they are high matches at best. Your scores are great (though it’d be good if you worked hard to improve your GPA first semester of senior year) and I do suggest you try to scrap up an EC or two. Show commitment to just a couple and be passionate about it; make it an experience to write about in your essays! I suggest you look toward some volunteer opportunities and put as much time as your busy schedule allows. Good luck!

Thanks you guys. I didn’t really put any personal stuff in there, I guess I should add it just in case it could help my chances:
I’m 25% Puerto Rican (it doesn’t show at all, but I’m the first on my mom’s side of the family to be born here)
I faced a ton of family issues from 7th grade to the beginning of junior year. My dad was arrested when I was in 7th for DUI (he was drunk and had a ton of cocaine with him. And he had been selling his Vicodin pills from a recent surgery he underwent) and child abuse (though I think this was blown way out of proportion). Then from 7th-10th grade my family situation just sort of spiraled downward until my mom finally decided she wanted a divorce last October. So all the implications of that were sort of a background theme throughout my sophomore year, but I don’t really think it’s affected me that much, and I know everyone writes about divorces so I don’t plan on using that angle (kind of sad that it’s come to this though: How bad can I make my life look to get into college?)…

If neither of your parents went to college then berkeley would definitely accept you. For some reason they like first generation students.
