What major? Interested in UCSC at all? UCM?
Your UC GPA puts you within range for all the UC’s.
2018 Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific:
UCB: 10%
UCLA: 9%
UCSD: 34%
UCSB: 38%
UCD: 41%
UCI: 38%
UCSC: 70%
UCR: 84%
UCM: 95%
2019 UC capped weighted GPA averages along with 25th-75th percentile range:
UCB: 4.23 (4.15-4.30)
UCLA: 4.25 (4.18-4.32)
UCSD: 4.16 (4.03-4.28)
UCSB: 4.16 (4.04-4.28)
UCI: 4.13 (4.00-4.25)
UCD: 4.13 (4.00-4.26)
UCSC: 3.96 (3.76-4.16)
UCR: 3.90 (3.69-4.11)
UCM: 3.73 (3.45-4.00)
Your SAT makes UCM/UCR/UCSC/UCI and UCD possible candidates but your intended major, essays and EC’s will all be factored into your admission decisions. Selective/Capped/Impacted majors such as Engineering/CS/Biological Sciences/Economics/Business would require above average stats to be a competitive applicant.
2019 Data:
25th - 75th percentiles for SAT totals:
UCB: 1340-1540
UCLA: 1330-1550
UCSD: 1300-1520
UCSB: 1280-1520
UCD: 1230-1490
UCI: 1250-1510

UCR: 1130-1400
UCM: 1020-1290
Apply widely to the UC’s since they tend to be unpredictable and you want choices in the Spring. Best of luck.
Thank you! My chosen major is Biochemistry. I know that’s very competitive.
I toured both UCSC and UCM. I liked them both. But I have heard that UCSC has serious housing issues and was confirmed by an admissions counselor at a college fair I attended. I am afraid of having to spend too much for housing after my 2 years is up.
UCM is isolated and in the middle of pretty much nowhere. But I liked that. I wouldnt mind going there at all.
Other than UCM, housing near any of the other UC’s will be pricey and that is what roommates are for when you move off campus, they help with your costs.
Can you explain the ELC program? We got something in the mail stating I am eligible. But not sure how it works. Does it guarantee enrollment at the closeset UC or just any UC where they have room?
@lisa9521: ELC means that you are either the top 9% of your HS based on historical benchmark GPA data or top 9% statewide.
ELC only guarantees that if you do not get into your choice UC, your application will be referred to the default campus which is UC Merced if there is room.

ELC status is determined by UC after students submit their applications. Using the self-reported academic record, the application will check to see if an applicant has met or exceeded the benchmark 9 percent GPA for his or her school and whether the student has completed the minimum course requirements.
