Maybe if you post this in the "What are my chances" forum, you might get more replies:
UCLA:Reach
UCSD: Slight Reach
UCI: Match(You'll probably get in)
UCD:Match(Same here)

I think your UC GPA might not be on your side though. Have you received anything lower than a C...on your semester marking....and if you did, did you make it up? Well Good Luck with the admission process...and update us in march/april.

Flopsy: I agree with UCLA being a super reach...but do u really think that UCSD UCD n UCI r Reaches?...i do have 34 college credits and have taken 8 college level classes and i am planning to take two more this year...not to say that ur judgement is competely wrong...im just second guessing it

Bump...i forgot to answer caliplaya03's question....i did not get anything below a C...in fact i haven't gotten anything below a B....i sucked freshman year...and thats why my High School GPA is a little low...but my UC GPA is at the most decent for UCI n UCD and may be UCSD...dont u agree?

Your verbal score and SAT II scores are low for UCSD. And, yes, your UC GPA is low for UCSD as well. I know loads of folks with UC GPAs above 4.0 who have been rejected by UCSD with higher test scores. Flopsy is on target calling it a reach for you --- of course, hopefully, we will all be proven wrong! Good luck!

well i guess ucsd is a slight reach...but i talked to the admissions director at ucsd and he says to be competitive a 3.8 and a 1250 sat score would give u a good shot at admission...and im not too far away from that goal. But do u think UCI and UCD are reach schools for me???

I agree that UCSD is really a reach, my son who's now there as a transfer, was rejected with similar gpa and higher scores. Boyfriend's son was turned down with a much higher SAT and higher gpa. He is at Irvine, which I would also have to say is hardly a shoo in given that it's getting harder every year and is effected by budget problems. Same for Davis. Do you have a safety?

The reason why I believe UCD and UCI remain slight reaches for you, Inderroop, is because your numerical stats are below their average admitted student's profile, which usually implies that the odds are against you. Because the UC adcoms care more about numbers-based criteria than college credit, your GPA and SAT scores may work against you... UCD and UCI both have UC GPAs of 3.91 and SAT I scores of 1249, as well as SAT II Writing scores of 621 and 619, respectively, and SAT II Math scores of 642 and 639, respectively. Your stats are below those of 2003-2004 in every aspect, and since these admissions benchmarks will rise higher for the 2004-2005 year, UCD and UCI will continue to remain slight reaches.

flopsy, i wonder what is more important...is it the matriculation figures or the admission figures. Because those stats are of ppl they accept but the ppl that choose to enroll have like a 3.7 and 1170...but idk which one is important so can u tell me?

Took another read through your stats. Are you African American? Is your family low income? Is your high school a strong, competitive one or one where few go to UCs? All this will play a big part.

hey guys how much will my college level courses impact my chances...cuz i have taken 8 college level courses at a community college for 36 units...and that is the most units a student has ever taken in the history of my school.

Unfortunately being Indian and from a good high school don't help, but low income will give you points. Are your parents college educated? If not that is a factor in your favor. Here's the thing, though. You need some good safety schools. I don't know where counselors are in terms of telling kids how hard the UCs are to get into now. I am shocked at the calibre of kids I am seeing being turned down by UCs that took a 3.0 a few years ago. With parent income at $40K, you will qualify for a lot of need based aid at private schools. Other parents can better tell you which have deadlines that have not passed. And if all else fails, the cc to UC option is a good one for some. After much debate my son chose that rather than going to the CSUs that accepted him and he's very happy in a highly competitive program at UCSD now. Good luck!

my parents are not college educated....and i did apply to csun....btw if ur high school is not very competitive does that mean that i have a better shot at gettin in to atleast one of my choices?

I think the admissions figures are definitely more important... the matriculation figures only tell you about the calibre of students who enroll and the yield factor, which isn't really relevant in a university's admissions but is often overlooked as a factor in its national repuation.
