UC Crisis!!

California's Crisis Hits Its Prized Universities - Yahoo! News

That is just effed up! Man! Paying more tuition means that people who are barely paying their tuition (like me) will have to take out more loans or become a part-time student (which i don't want to!)

Your thoughts?

They do not understand the rank and importance of UC system, I came to the US about 17 months ago and believe me, a UC and its education are highly ranked in the third world countries.

All due to California’s f****d up core budget system, I should’ve accepted MIT’s offer of admission but UCSD was almost free for me after everything but now if the Cal Grants get cut, most likely they will, I will have to pay $8000 which I am not very capable of myself.

sobs 10 char

Wow…I graduated at the right time. While attending UCSD I truly believed that the advancements being made would produce a university far more prestigious in decades to come, but this crisis is a giant step backward for the entire system. Even if it only last for a couple years it might take much, much longer to rebound.

***…that darn schwarzenegger needs to get his priorities straight!! spending on prisons while cutting back on education??? what has this world come to!! >[

I really hate what our government leaders are doing right now and they definitely need to get their act together.

But as to the whole “raise tution” thing, I’m not surprised in the least bit. I read an article just over 5 months ago that said that tall the big UC campuses will increase their tution to about 32K (this includes UCSD) while the other campuses slightly increase theirs.

I know! I hate how they are not valuing education. Cutting this budget area is NOT the right choice.
